My Dream Business
For the past 3 years I have been a licensed Cosmetologist. Growing up I have always
loved the beauty industry. I loved changing my hair color all the time and playing with different
makeup brands. It’s always been my art. I’ve worked in a few different salons in the 3 years of
being licensed and the one thing I have learned about myself is that I love everything that
happens behind the scenes. As much as I enjoy making people feel beautiful, I absolutely love
the hard work that goes into making a salon run. If I could make my dreams come true, I would
I really want my salon to stand out and be different from others. I want a full-service
salon that also includes a section for people to get their nails done and a section for people to get
makeup done. I know that a lot of people, including myself, tend to have a hard time finding a
decent salon with affordable prices. Some places either charge super low prices or extremely
outrageous prices. I want my salon to be a good middle ground. Not too expensive, but not too
cheap.
My salon will accept all customers- women, men and children. I want to make sure I
have a staff who can specialize in different hair textures. I want to make sure that all people feel
welcomed and feel like they can trust anyone who works there to do their hair. I’ve witnessed too
many people have to leave because nobody knows how to work with curly hair or people don’t
know how to do perms and other complex services. Education should always be a priority for the
staff. Especially in the beauty industry where styles are constantly changing. I really struggled

when I first started in a salon. In beauty school, they teach you a lot of things, but you never fully
learn until you are out on your own. I don’t want people to feel discourage like I did. I want my
salon to be a safe place that offers that education for our new stylists. I don’t want people to feel
This business appeals to me becuase I absolutely love the hair industry. Although I might
not enjoy physically doing haircuts, I absolutely love the business side. It very important to me to
have a hair salon like this because I know what it’s like to struggle to find work. It really does
take a while to find a place where you feel you belong. They say you don’t always have to like
who you work with, but with this job you absolutely do. You work so close together and spend
12 or more hours a day together. You become a family. My goal is to create a safe and
comfortable environment for stylists and give them the guidance they might need.
