Interviewer: Mariana
Interviewee: Madalina
Good morning teacher, we are Madalina and Mariana and today we will present our
role play for a Tesco Customer assistant job. The interviewer will be Mariana and the
interviewee Madalina.
1.Mariana: Good morning, Madalina! I am so pleasant that you choose to be part of
our friendly team, in the beginning I want to present you some details about the role
of Customer assistant for Tesco: Customers are at the heart of everything we do.
It takes lots of different people to run a store and this is a job for doers, with plenty of
variety. It’s a committed role, full of everyday challenges, but that’s one of the things
that makes it so rewarding.
Being a colleague in one of our stores means that you will help to serve our
shoppers better every day.
You’ll meet great people, learn new things and be part of an expert diverse team
where everyone is welcome.
Madalina: Thank you so much for your presentation, now I am more happy because
I choose to apply for this job.
2. Mariana: I think you fit the job very well and I want to ask you a few questions to
confirm that you are the right person for us!
Madalina: It will be a pleasure for me to answer your questions!
3. Mariana: Tell us about yourself and about your last job
Madalina: My name is Madalina, I am from Romania, I am 26years old, I came to
London 3 years ago because here are more opportunities to grow and to develop
yourself, I studied here at UWTSD London Campus, because how I said I want to
invest in my future and develop my skills. My last job was at Amazon Fresh where I
worked like a problem solver, my duties at the workplace was to solve any problem
encountered by employees and to ensure that customer orders will be shipped on
time and in good conditions.
4. Mariana: What do you know about our company and why do you want to work
here?

5. Madalina: Tesco is one of the largest retailers in the world.

Jack Cohen founded Tesco in 1919.
Tesco is best known for its fresh food and groceries.
Tesco is also known for its clothing, online shopping,  insurance,  petrol
filling stations, and mobile pay as you go services.
I want to work for Tesco because I love the product and the service I get at Tesco
and because of this, I would be happy to represent it. I would also be proud to work
for a company that is so focused on reducing food waste (because food waste is
under 1%)AND also I like the fact that Tesco promotes healthier living for their
customers. For example, Tesco is the first retailer in the UK to give kids free fruit in
their stores. Tesco has also removed sweets and chocolates from its checkouts
across all their stores.
6.Mariana: What is your greatest strength?
Madalina: One of my greatest strengths I’ve acquired during my education is good
analytical and planning skills. This has always benefited me to set goals and try to
achieve them. But at the same time, I’m driven by the thoughts of success. Also
another strength is my communication skills. I work very well with all kinds of people,
and understand that everyone has different perspectives about projects and work
tasks – so when I work with others I realize that everyone comes to the table with
different priorities and objectives. I keep this in mind when I communicate tasks that
need to be accomplished with positive reinforcement and awareness of what others
are working on.
7.Mariana: What is your greatest weakness?
Madalina: I can say that my greatest weakness is that I like to work hard and most of
time I neglect my family and my friends but for my career and my future I will learn
how to divide time much better in order to be able to spend time with them.

8.Mariana: How would you deal with an upset customer?

Madalina: I would find out what is wrong with the customer. If it was the product I
would offer to replace it (I will check with my manager first). is important to keep the
customer happy as an unhappy customer will never return.
If the customer was upset because they could not find a product, I would
find it for them and not just point them in a general direction.
9. Mariana: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Madalina: Let me start by saying that I’m really excited about the position we
are discussing and my number one goal is to do the best job I can at this role.
Having said that, if down the line there’s an opportunity for advancement and
I’ve proven that I have not only the skills and experience needed to take on
this next level of responsibility, then of course I would be interested.
10. Mariana: That is great! Another question now.. Why should I hire you? Why you
think that you are the right person?
Madalina: I think I have great communication skills and I am working well in a
team, and I am doing what’s needed to give our customers great service.
I will Get to know the customers,I will greet them with a smile and serve them with
pride .
I will Take time to listen, and help out wherever I will can
I will Make decisions that are right for our customers
I am passionate and knowledgeable about Tesco products and services
and Always I will be there, on time and properly presented.
11.Mariana: How did you find this job?
Madalina: I looked at Tesco’s website for jobs because I thought it would be a fun
and fast-paced place to work.
12. Mariana: Do you have any questions for us?
Madalina: Yes, I want to ask you What do you like best about working here?
Mariana: Good question, I like to work here because every day is a new challenge, I
like my team because all of them are hard workers and together we are the best
team ever 😊 also I love to meet new people and to hear new stories.
I want to thank you for your time and to congrats you because the job is yours.
