Learning Activities:

Initiation: Watch a “Draw my Life” video (10 min)

Lesson Development:

- ML: Organization of ideas in nonfiction texts (20 min)


- C: After looking at fictional depictions of characters, we are now
going to transition into looking at neurodiverse authors and artists
telling their own stories.
- TP: Authors organize their ideas into broader categories,
subcategories, and details.
- AE: Watch a “Draw my Life” video together and outline key points
into categories, main events, and supporting details
- L: All authors use organizational tools to clarify their ideas and
create a cohesive flow for readers. We will practice outlining our
biographies to better understand the structure of literature we will
be looking at this week
- Outlining your autobiography (10 min)
- Students outline their personal biographies (written, bullet points,
storyboard, etc.) and demonstrate organizational strategies
Closure:
- Gallery walk and then discuss organizational strategies used throughout
(write on butcher paper and display for reference) (10 min)
