Research Interests
Keywords: late-life depression; community-based psychosocial interventions; functional independence;
social connectedness; home and community based long-term care; health and social care integration

My research focuses on understanding the intersection of aging, mental health, and physical health,
with attention to the psychosocial determinants of health among older adults. My program of research
has two arms: (1) basic social science research seeking to identify and elucidate the links between
depression, chronic disease, and disability in later-life; and (2) applied intervention research on the
development, evaluation, and implementation of community-based psychosocial interventions for
reducing depression and promoting functional independence.
