1. Did DM Medical Corporation shift from traditional manufacturing to lean manufacturing?

answer by giving at least one (1) indicator.
 Yes, DM Medical Corporation moved from traditional manufacturing to lean production.
They were able to reduce the inventory by P1.7 million. One of the known feature of
lean production is that those items are made or manufactured when order was already
placed. It reduces the inventory lying idle in the manufacturer's sites or warehouse.
Amount of money tied up in stock is thus reduced.

 2. What are the problems that DM Medical Corporation faced? 


 A lot of their funds were tied up in stock (inventory).
 The period he period between placing an order and receiving it was too long. Rarely had
deliveries been made on time.
 Many cases of first pass frustrations existed.
 
3. Cite at least five (5) initiatives the company made to address those problems.
 Created a smooth-running process that cleared resources such as space, equipment
and people.
 Bills of materials were confronted and squashed.
 They cut down the duration between which an order is placed and when it is delivered
(lead time).
 Efforts to ensure steady inspections were put in place.
 They produced not now based on their sales forecast but based on orders made.

 Create flow
By doing these, they were to free up most of their resources and ensure that their
processes are efficient. Efficient product flow requires items to move from production to
shipping without interruption and can be achieved by strategically organizing the work
floor. A well-organized work floor will result in reduced production time, inventory
size and material handling.
 
5. Assuming that you are the operations manager of the company, what other initiatives can
you recommend that will support at least one (1) lean manufacturing principle?
 Identifying value.
Establishing what it is that their client's needs are so that they cannot design and tailor
their products in order to meet the needs of the consumers. Eliminate what does not told
with the consumers. It requires businesses to define what customers value and how
their products or services meet those values.
