D. Narrative Section (Please indicate any additional comments regarding the student’s
performance)

It was a pleasure being the Preceptor for Patrick’s residency at Scripps Health. Patrick is
motivated, intelligent, well-spoken, eager to learn and diligent in completing projects. He has a
very good understanding of information technology and an intense interest in learning about
the Epic system. He shadowed and completed numerous Epic classes where he learned
workflows and functionality for many roles. He used the knowledge and training tips he gained
in those classes to make improvements to the EMR at his current job. He interviewed several
people on our IS Training Team to gain an understanding of their duties and to understand
their career path. He also interviewed leaders and clinicians on our team to understand
transitioning into healthcare informatics from direct patient care. I assigned several projects to
Patrick and he completed them all proficiently and on time (Epic UGM session reviews, Health
IT vendor research, Information Blocking regulation).

I certify the student met criteria in the sections above as indicated.
