Start Menu
Windows 10 Start menu is similar to Windows 7 with the added features. As seen from the
picture below, it contains list of applications installed on Left Pane and application tiles on the
Right Pane which are pre-modified for Sobeys.

1. Menu expands to show name for all menu items
Left Pane : List of the applications installed on your machine
(Similar to ALL PROGRAMS under Start Menu on Windows 7)
2. User Account Lock or sign out of your PC, switch to another account, or change account
setting (add your picture or update your info)
3. Documents shortcut to Documents folder
4. Pictures shortcut to Pictures folder
5. Settings shortcut to Windows Settings
6. Power options: Sleep / Shutdown / Restart
7. Search for folder, apps, contents on your computer as well as on internet
Tip: For quicker way to search for apps/files, simply click on Start and begin typing.

8. Task View shows Virtual Desktops, you can add more by clicking “New Desktop” on top left of
the screen. In addition, it also shows the history of the activities.
To access task view using keyboard, press the Windows logo key + Tab.

9. Microsoft Edge New browser from Microsoft. Internet Explorer is still available on Windows 10,
simply search for it on the Start menu.

Action Center
In Windows 10, the new action center is where you'll
find app notifications and quick actions. On the
taskbar, look for the action center icon.
To open action center, do any of the following:
 On the right end of the taskbar, click on the Action
Center icon.
 Press the Windows logo key +A
 On a touchscreen device, swipe in from the right
edge of the screen.

Snip & Sketch


Sometimes the easiest way to make a copy of something is to take a snapshot of your screen. While
you can already capture your screen using your keyboard’s PrtScr button, you can now press
Windows logo key + Shift + S to open the new modern snipping experience (also called the
snipping bar), then drag the cursor over the area you want to capture.

Here are some common ways to take screenshots in Snip & Sketch on Windows 10.
Take a screenshot Freeform
Clip
Option 1: Using the Snip & Sketch app
 Press the Start button and enter Snip & Sketch in the search field.
 Press the New button to start snipping with the snipping bar.
The snipping bar allows you to capture the following types of clips:
Rectangular Clip
Freeform Clip Rectangular Fullscreen
Fullscreen Clip Clip Clip

Once you snip an area of your screen — the snipped image is added to your clipboard and
you can paste it immediately in another app. A screen prompt will also allow you to annotate,
save or share it using the Snip & Sketch app.

Option 2: With the Windows logo key + Shift + S


 Pressing the Windows logo key + Shift key +S key down initiates the snipping bar at any time.

Ease of Access
Windows 10, allows you to setup Ease of Access options
on your computer, to improve accessibility.
To open Ease of Access, go to settings , select Ease Categories
of Access and review the categories listed. There are 3
categories and the options available under each
category are as below. Select the options to see the
settings available and apply change as required, settings
will be saved as soon as they are changed.

Snap your windows


Snap assist provides a quick and easy way to arrange your windows. Here's how to take full advantage of
the feature on Windows 10.
Outline
Snap with the mouse
1. Select the title bar of the window you want to snap.
2. Drag it to the edge of your screen. An outline (as
shown in the screenshot) will appear to show where
the window will snap to once you drop it.
3. Drag it to the left or right side of your screen to
snap it to the left or right half of the screen.
4. Drag it to the corner to snap it to any of the corner
of the screen.
Snap with the keyboard
1. Select the window you want to snap and press the Windows Logo Key + Left Arrow to snap
that window to the left of your screen or the Windows Logo Key + Right Arrow to snap that
window to the right.
2. If you want to move it to a corner after snapping it, then with the window selected, press the
Windows Logo Key + Up Arrow or the Windows Logo Key + Down Arrow to get it into the
desired corner.
3. After you move the window to a corner, the window is in its smallest possible state, which is a
quarter of the screen. Then you can use the Windows Logo Key + Arrow Key to move it wherever
you want.

Setup Dual or Multiple Monitors

To get your PC to recognize multiple monitors:


1. Verify that cables are connected properly to the new monitors.
2. Select how you want the desktop to display;
 You can press the Windows logo key + P and select an option,
or use the following steps if you need more settings options.
3. Right-click anywhere on your desktop and select
Display settings to open the Display page. Your PC
should automatically detect your monitors and
show your desktop. If you don't see the monitors,
select Detect or check cables are connected
properly.
4. Scroll down to Multiple displays, then select an
option from the drop-down list to determine how
your desktop will display across your screens. For
the largest work area, select Extend desktop.
5. Select Keep changes.

Personalizing your desktop


Windows 10 makes it easy to customize the look and feel of your desktop. To access the
Personalization settings, right-click anywhere on the desktop, then select Personalize.
The Personalization settings will appear.

Changing the desktop wallpaper


1. Click on Background
2. Using the “Background” drop-down menu, select the
Picture or Solid Color or Slideshow Option.
 Picture: Choose a picture from the list or Click on Browse
button to select the image you want to use as desktop 1
background.
 Solid Color: Choose the color that you want as desktop
background. You can also create your own color by clicking

on the “Custom Color”
 Slideshow: By default slide show will display pictures
located under the “Pictures” folder. To change the folder
from which you would like to run the slideshow, click on
Browse and select the folder.

Applying a color accent


Windows 10 lets you change the color accent that appears
throughout the experience, including Start, Taskbar, Action
Center, Title Bars, and linkable text in apps and Settings. To
1 change the current color, do the following;
1. Click on Colors
2. Select the color accent you want to use or click on
“Custom Color” to create your own color OR
2 Check Automatically pick an accent color from my
background
