It shall be considered unprofessional and inconsistent with honorable and dignified
bearing for any registered Civil Engineer to do the following:
1. To act for his clients in professional matters otherwise than as a faithful agent or trustee, or
to accept any remuneration other than his stated charges for services rendered to his
clients.
Example: When an Engineer lies to his/her clients for personal or financial gain, then he/she
is already breaking this rule.

2. To attempt to injure falsely or maliciously, directly or indirectly, the professional reputation,

prospects, or business of another Engineer.
Example: When Engineer A tells a client that Engineer B has an inaccurate information
about a certain concept that is required for a project, he/she is not following this rule.

3. To attempt to supplant another Engineer after definite steps have been taken toward his
employment.
Example: When an Engineer has been awarded a project by the client, but another engineer
takes an extra action to stole that project from him/her, this is considered as rule breaking.

4. To compete with another Engineer for employment on the basis of his professional charges,
by reducing his usual charges and in his manner attempting to underbid after being
informed of the charges named by another.
Example: When you deliberately reduce the cost of materials on a certain project, just for
the client to recognize how much cheaper the project will cost compared to when another
Engineer estimated it.

5. To review the work of another Engineer for the same client, except with the knowledge or
consent of such Engineer, or unless the connection of such Engineer with the work has
been terminated.
Example: An Engineer has migrated to another country, which deems him/her unavailable
for a certain project, so you must get permission from him to authorize you to continue
his/her project.
6. To advertise in self-laudatory language, or in any other manner derogatory to the dignity of
the Profession.
Example: Speaking negative information about other Engineers just to get the blessing of a
certain client.

7. To use the advantages of a salaried position to compete unfairly with Engineers in private
practice.
Example: Bragging to your clients how much money you make, just so they will be
impressed and will instantly look at you as a trustworthy professional.

8. To act in any manner or engage in any practice which will tend to bring discredit on the
honor or dignity of the Engineering Profession.
Example: Not following the Structural Code and then a project building collapses.
Afterwards, the public loses its trust on Civil Engineers due to that incident.
