First of all, you need to prepare thoroughly for your trip and do not forget to take your money,

passport,
visa and plane ticket in addition to your main luggage. For holidaymakers, you should also take a travel
voucher and health insurance. If you are going on a beach holiday, it is a good idea to have a checklist on
what to take with you to a warm country.

Arrival at the airport.

So, it's best to arrive at the airport early. Check-in for international flights usually starts 2-2.5 hours before
the departure time indicated on the ticket. For domestic flights, it is an hour and a half before departure.
The airport you are departing to has several terminals; find out which one you need to go to шn advance,
since travelling from one terminal to another may take a long time.

In large international airports, this can sometimes take a few dozen minutes and there are shuttle buses or
electric trains running between the different terminals. Remember that it is better to arrive early - the
airport has everything you need to comfortably await your flight. Many passengers of international flights
spend some time in duty-free shops due to the possibility to buy quality goods cheaper than in regular
shops.

Check-in for your flight.

So, you are at the airport. If you are at an international airport, follow the Departures or check-in signs.
Many airports have an initial security check-in. In that case, you will be asked to put your luggage on the x-
ray conveyor belt. You will then pass through a metal frame. The X-ray scanner is a device consisting of a
conveyor belt, which scans your luggage with X-rays.

Next, you will need your flight number. Look for the board showing all departure flights - Departures. On
this board, all flights are sorted by departure time. You will find the check-in counters next to your flight.
Locate the check-in counters for your flight. They may differ slightly from each other in terms of your
benefits - First, Business, Economy or Tourist Class. Find your class of service and get in line.

Wait your turn and show your passport. In rare cases, you may be asked to show a printout of your ticket.
Some airlines also require that you present the card used to pay for your ticket. You are usually informed of
this requirement at the time of booking your ticket. You can also find this information on the airlines'
websites. They are most interested when the passenger's name does not match the name of the payment
card. Card check cases are most common abroad - UK, France, USA, etc. If your trip is paid for by someone
else who is not travelling, it is better to find out whether you have to present the payment card or not.

Place your luggage on the conveyor belt of your check-in desk - the display will show its weight.

Check your baggage allowance in advance, as excess weight may increase the total price of your ticket
significantly. On average Economy class regular flights ticket, 1 piece of baggage weighing up to 20kg and 1
piece of carry-on baggage is normal.

If your hand luggage is very large, please check the size requirements as well.

Foreign airports are increasingly introducing automated self-check-in counters. These are usually ATM-like
devices. The machine prints out your ticket for you using your E-booking number and passport or, in some
cases, the card you used to pay for your ticket. Often you will also be able to choose your seat on the plane.
If you are only travelling with hand luggage, such a counter can help you check-in and collect your ticket
significantly quicker.
So you check-in, check your bags and collect your ticket. Now you know your boarding gate, which is
indicated on your ticket. It is also useful to know when your boarding time begins so that you are not late
and you don't have to search for it. More airports may be divided into sectors or zones serving different
destinations. In this case, you will be told where to go when you check-in. But more often there is one
passport control for everyone.
