1. The allegations of the tenants were not
entirely true. It was true that the Dominicans
owned the vast landholdings not only in
Calamba an into the neighboring cities such as
Binan, ; these lands were actually titled in the
name of the Dominican order. They were not
only owner of Calamba but as well as the land
of Binan, San Pedro and Sta. Rosa. Moreover,
many land was rented free for settlers for many
years. Calamba land holdings anctually extend
as far as Los Banos. In 1885, Paciano was
allowed to clear the land in barrio Pansul? And
cultivate it, these were fertile lands, coveted by
