About TFSU (天津外国语大学介绍)

天津外国语大学(简称“天津外大”、“天外”)是一所主要外语语种齐全
,文学、经济学、管理学、法学、教育学、艺术学、工学等多学科协调发展、特
色鲜明的高等学校。学校秉承“中外求索,德业竞进”的校训精神,着力培养高
素质复合型国际化人才。天津外国语大学的主体前身是1964年成立的秦皇岛外语
专科学校,后更名为河北外国语专科学校、天津外国语专科学校。1974年,学校
恢复并改名为天津外国语学院,同年招生的有英、日、法、俄、西班牙等语种。
1981年被国务院批准为首批硕士学位授予单位。2010年,经教育部批准更名为天
津外国语大学。

Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU), one of China's eight foremost higher
education institutions specializing in foreign languages, is a multidisciplinary university
with "Foreign Language & Literature" as the predominant discipline. The history of
TFSU can be traced back to 1921 when the university's first predecessor, Hautes Etudes
Industrielles et Commerciales was founded at the present site of the Machang Road
campus. In 1964, the university's second predecessor — Qinhuangdao Foreign Language
College (later renamed Tianjin Foreign Language College) was established.Then in 1974,
with the approval of the State Council, Tianjin Foreign Language College expanded into
a new school known as Tianjin Institute of Foreign Languages at the current Machang
Road campus. In 2010, with the approval of the Ministry of Education (MOE), the school
was renamed Tianjin Foreign Studies University.

B. “汉语桥”—非遗文化体验

天津外国语大学“汉语桥—非遗文化体验”项目,是我校国际传媒学院面
向海外中文学习者倾情打造的线上团组项目,旨在向世界介绍中国非物质文化遗
产,展现中国文化魅力。项目涵盖中国特色语言文化知识、中华优秀传统文化、
非遗文化等。活动中学员不仅可以云游杨柳青和泥人张博物馆,听传承人讲解非
遗,还能线上体验杨柳青年画、泥人张、风筝魏、剪纸的制作过程,在感性体悟
中加深对非遗的理解。学员还能学习中国古诗词、民间传说、国画、书法,感受
中华传统文化底蕴。通过学习,学员可以进一步了解非遗中的民俗与文化,体会
传统文化与现代生活的衔接,在现代技术中领略天津非遗的魅力。

Tianjin Foreign Studies University's "Chinese Bridge - Intangible Cultural


Heritage Experience" program is an online group program created by the School of
Communication for Chinese learners abroad, aiming to introduce Chinese intangible
cultural heritage to the world and show the charm of Chinese culture. The program covers
knowledge of Chinese language and culture, excellent traditional Chinese culture and
intangible heritage culture, etc. The participants not only have the opportunity to visit the
Yangliuqing museum and Clay Figurine Zhang museum, and listen to the inheritors'
explanations, but also experience the production process of Yangliuqing New Year
paintings, Clay Figurine Zhang, Kite Wei and paper-cutting online to deepen their
understanding of intangible culture heritage. Besides, participants can also learn Chinese
ancient poetry, folklore, Chinese painting, calligraphy, and experience the heritage of
traditional Chinese culture. Through the study, participants can further understand the

folk custom and culture in Chinese intangible cultural heritage, experience the interface
between traditional culture and modern life, and appreciate the charm of intangible
cultural heritage in modern technology on the land of Tianjin.

1. The basic forms of the program are divided into live broadcast and video. The live
broadcast including Chinese language courses, which begin at 20:00 (UTC+8) and end at
21:00 (UTC+8) every day. The participants can join the preliminary, vantage or higher
course according to your result of the previous Chinese Proficiency Test.

2. The participants can also watch other videos at the recommended time through the
Chinese Bridge platform.

3. The participants will be rewarded with the digital course-completion certificate after
submitting the homework at the end of the courses. The students can choose one of the
following tasks and you’re expected to complete it before 7th March, 2021.

a) Write a short essay in Chinese (No less than 300 words) in which you can
share your experience of participating in this program or tell the story between
you and China.
b) Record a short video in which you can declaim an ancient Chinese poem or
tell a Chinese folk story.
c) Take a picture of the calligraphy or art work created by yourself during the
courses.
d) Introduce the intangible cultural heritage of your homeland by taking short
videos, photos, or writing a short passage in Chinese.

Online Group Exchange Program Course Requirements
To ensure the teaching quality of this program, the following course requirements are set,
please consciously abide by them during the implementation of the program:

1. Lecturers of the online live courses will reserve time for Q&A in each class, if the

students have any question, please ask them within the specified time.
2. The students need to understand the course schedule in advance, in principle, no
absence from the live course. If students are absent due to illness, network delay or
other reasons, students need to inform the teaching assistant one day in advance.
3. A quiet place to complete the online live course, and do not disturb the classroom
environment. The organizer has the right to terminate the learning qualification of the
students who disturb the class and do not listen to the dissuasion.
4. The time of the online live course is fixed, and for other video courses, students can
study according to the suggested time, or choose the appropriate time to study
independently.
5. The students need to complete the assignments assigned by the teachers. If there’s
any questions related to the course, consult the teaching assistants for answers.
6. Any of the following behaviors during the course of study will be regarded as
violations and the students will not be able to obtain a certificate of completion.
(1) Absent from the online live courses for 3 times or more without any reason;
(2) Not completing 70% of the video courses;
(3) Not submitting the final course assignments as required.

Rich in content and auspicious in meaning, Yangliuqing New Year paintings have always
been regarded as the top of Chinese folk woodcut paintings. They are famous both at
home and abroad for their profound history accumulation and cultural continuity. The
video takes the "Tianjin Yangliuqing Woodblock Print Museum" as a carrier and shows
the classic works of Yangliuqing New Year Painting and the production process of
Yangliuqing New Year Painting through online travel and experience.

Yangliuqing Woodcut New Year Painting is unique in Tianjin’s folk art with a history of
400 years. The themes of it are auspicious, festive, diversified, and lively. It has the
artistic characteristics of exquisite brushwork, beautiful characters, diverse forms,
integration of poetry and painting, and appreciation of both refined and popular tastes. As
an ancient Chinese folklore activity, the main theme of traditional New Year Painting is
in line with people’s joyful and festive desire during the New Year, which is full of
auspicious and happy connotations. There are also many works that represent theatrical
scenes, literary masterpieces, historical allusions and myths and legends, and many of
them have titles, poems, signatures and seals, presenting traditional Chinese culture in the
form of poetry, calligraphy, painting and printing.

The kite pattern contains a festive and auspicious meaning, reflecting people's kind and
healthy thoughts and feelings. The course demonstrates the process of hand-painting kites
by teachers to let students understand the Chinese traditions and folk customs embedded
in kites. Through the white drawing and coloring of the traditional patterns in kites, the
course closely connects traditional Chinese culture with contemporary art creation and
improves students' aesthetic skills; furthermore, through the free proposition of the
homework, students are inspired to think and express themselves creatively.

,深受民众喜爱。天津有一位被称为“神刀许”的剪纸非遗文化传承人——许志
齐,他和妻子在传承传统技艺的同时不断创新,形成了别具特色的志齐剪纸。视
频展示了许志齐的剪纸作品和剪纸的制作过程。

Paper-cutting is a kind of folk art with scissors or gravers cutting patterns on paper to
decorate life or add festival atmosphere to other folk activities. Paper-cut culture contains
rich cultural and historical information, which can not only decorate people's lives, but
also inherit a traditional culture. In 2009, Chinese paper-cutting was selected as one of
the "Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO.
Paper-cutting can improve the ability to use hands and brains, exercise image thinking,
and is popular among the public. In Tianjin, there is a paper-cutting intangible cultural
heritage inheritor known as "Brilliant Artist Xu" - Xu Zhiqi. He and his wife continue to
innovate while inheriting traditional skills, forming the distinctive Zhiqi paper-cutting.
The video shows Xu Zhiqi's paper-cutting works and the process of making paper-cutting.

This course introduces us excellent Chinese paper-cut animations, such as Pigsy Eats
Watermelon, The Moon is in the Well, and Gamecock. Chinese paper-cut animation
combines folk paper-cuttings, New Year Pictures, puppet shows and other art forms. It’s
a well and highly developed art shape. In the paper-cut animation, we can learn how the
Chinese traditional art is integrated into the animation, and how it blends with Western
paper-cut animation, which contain a fuller and more diverse aesthetic connotation.

Clay Figurine Zhang is a representative of traditional Chinese sculpture. Tianjin Clay
Figurine Zhang Color Sculpture Studio is mainly engaged in the excavation, arrangement
and artistic creation of "Clay Figurine Zhang" color sculpture art, and its works are well-
known both at home and abroad. In this video, foreign students Ma Meng and Eliza lead
us to visit Tianjin Clay Figurine Zhang Color Sculpture Studio and experience the
production process of clay figurines.

本课程分两个部分开展中国书法的学习,第一部分为“书体的演变”,通过理论
讲授使学生了解汉字的起源、发展与演变的历史,基本掌握各体书体的艺术特征
。第二部分为“福字的书写”,“贴福字”是春节中不可缺少特色环节,通过教
师示范演示写“福”字的过程,使学生从实践中深入地体会中国书法的魅力,并
了解中国传统习俗文化。

This course is divided into two parts to learn Chinese calligraphy. The first part is “The
evolution of calligraphy style”. Through theoretical lectures, students can understand the
history of the origin, development, and evolution of Chinese characters, and basically
master the artistic characteristics of each style. The second part is “Fu character writing”,
“Pasting fu” is an indispensable feature in the spring festival. The teacher demonstrates
the process of writing the character “Fu”, so that students can deeply experience the charm
of Chinese calligraphy from practice and understand Chinese customs and culture.

中国民间传说 (21.00-21.30)

传说指的是由民众口头创作、传承的,以特定人物、特定事件、特定的地方风物
及习俗为中心的,具有历史审美意味的散文叙事文体。中国是个历史悠久的国家
,在民间流传着丰富的传说,其中“四大传说”流传最广、影响最大,也被作为
戏曲的重要题材广泛传唱。让我们一起来了解《牛郎织女》《白蛇传》《孟姜女
》《梁山伯与祝英台》这四个最具中国特色的民间传说吧。

Legend refers to the narrative style of prose that is created and passed on orally by the
people, centered on specific characters, specific events, specific local scene, and customs,
and has historical aesthetic significance. China is a country with a long history, and there
are rich legends circulating among the people. The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, the
Legend of the White Snake, Meng Jiangnv, as well as Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, are
known as the “Four legends”. They are influential and spread widely, and also sung as a
significant theme of Chinese opera. Now, let us appreciate the charm of Chinese legend.

painting. We will learn to use the material tools of Chinese painting in practice. The

水墨画实验体验 (19.00-19.30)

本课程让学员了解中国画的传统材料特点、视觉艺术特点及文化内涵。以手绘的
方式让同学们直观感受中国画的墨色意趣。从点、线、面介入用笔用墨实验,体
验传统绘画的视觉和审美感受。结合小创意在趣味中体会并思考传统精华与现代
的链接。

This course let students understand the traditional material characteristics, visual art
characteristics and cultural connotation of Chinese painting. We can feel the interest of
ink in Chinese painting directly by hand-drawing, and achieve the visual and aesthetic
inspiration of traditional painting from the point, line, surface interspersed with the
operation of pen and ink. The course will taste and reflect on the essence of traditional
and modern ties in the fun combined with heuristic ideas.

水墨画动画介绍 (19.30-20.00)

本课程从中国水墨动画的初始阶段谈起,介绍了两部在中国动画史上非常重要的
水墨动画:《小蝌蚪找妈妈》和《牧笛》。水墨动画是从中国传统绘画中生发出
来的优秀动画门类,也是全世界独一无二的动画形式。在课程中,学生不但可以
了解上世纪60至80年代的水墨动画创作情况,也可以看到当代的创作者是如何运
用三维动画技术去创作水墨动画的。水墨动画显示出中国动画产业中了不起的匠
人传承精神,也表达出中国人追求大化意境、热爱田园之趣的审美意趣。

animations that are vital roles in
history of Chinese animation:
Tadpole’s Mummy and Mu Di. Ink
and wash animation is a unique
form of animation derived from
traditional Chinese painting. We
can not only understand the creation of ink animation in the 1960s and 1980s, but also
see how contemporary creators wield 3D technique to creative works. Ink painting shows
the artisan spirit of the Chinese animation industry. It expresses the Chinese People’s
aesthetic interest in pursuing the great artistic conception and loving the idyllic charm.
