I. The Present Subjunctive Mood.

Rewrite each of the suggestions below using phrases such as “I insist that”, “I recommend
that”, “I suggest that”, “I propose that”, or “It is vital that” and verbs in the subjunctive
mood.

E.g.: Students must be silent during their classmates’ presentation.

It is vital that students be silent during their classmates presentation.

1. Germayorie should be re-elected class president for our senior year.

2. Homework must be eliminated, and students should be given longer breaks.

II. Read each of the following sentences. If a sentence has an error in the subjunctive
mood, cross it out. Then, write the correction below each error. If the sentence has no error,
then write “correct”.
