A. Getting Started
Good day! Hooray! You are on your last module for this
quarter. You made it! This is a proof that even though you
were swayed by circumstances you are still able to get back up
and fight. You really are courageous. Congratulations, Nak!
The foremost concern on the minds of most school graduates is how they will build up
their future, especially their career. Some of the common questions they ask include;
Where will I get a job, and how? Will I be equipped with all the right business skills to
become good at my job? Will I still be working in the same job or in the same industry
five years down the road? How do I move on up to the top and stay there?
Many well-established professionals will tell you that hard work and good decision
making, among other things are keys in building up a successful career. But you will
probably hear them emphasize a lot on building up a professional image as well.
This lesson will teach you the basics of the business writing, one of the essentials of
communicating in the workplace.
To have a better idea of what business writing is about, try to fill out this chart on your
knowledge of business writing on your own at first. You can fill out the third column
after the discussion.
For our discussion, read pages 249-255 in your book. If you are done reading,
watch the discussion video in your OTG.

I got the letter that you sent a few weeks ago about the software security system that
your company makes. It sounds great for us, but I want to dig up some things before
we buy it. You said the system is shiny-brand-new, but what happens if you update it
soon? And you said it will take a month to install the system. We need it ASAP. Don't
be slow, we are in a hurry. Mia Lim

ABC Inc.
It is within our knowledge that your company makes complex softwares regarding
security systems. And we receive the samples of the said security system softwares
that your company makes which we will consider as an attempt for a collaboration
between our two distinct companies.
We know your reputation regarding your software projects, which is top-notch. And to
tell you the truth, it would be a great pleasure to collaborate with you and your
software company. However, upon testing it for a bit, we've noticed some minor flaws
in your software. An example would be a bit of a lengthy run time during installation.
Also, we wondered what would happen if we updated at? Will the recent memory data
be erased and overwritten?
As I have stated, we are willing to collaborate and accept your software, but we first
need clarifications regarding these factors. Please respond immediately, as it is
urgent and our company must decide on the next move as soon as possible.
