MODALS FOR PREDICTIONS

MAY, MIGHT AND WILL


For predictions
We use may and might to express future with a 50 % of
possibility (slightly possible).

Examples:
✔ It might rain later. (Maybe)
✔ I may go to the movies tonight. (Though I'm not sure)

We can use this modal verb when we want to make a guess


about something we know can happen in the future
(something possible).
When we nclude the adverbs
definitely and probably with will, the
meaning of will changes.

Examples:
• She will definitely be here in a moment. (100 % certain)
• She will probably buy a new car. (90 % possible)

Definitely means there is not going to be any change made, it is a kind of
confirmation.

Probably means that something will happen, anyway we are not one
hundred per cent sure.
