PREFACE

Practical knowledge has no alternative; a perfect co-ordination between theory


and practice is of paramount importance in the context of the modern business
world. In order to resolve the dichotomy between these two areas, the BIM,
Chittagong arranges “Term Paper” a practical completion of the final part in
PGDHRM course. This program is necessary for every student to complete his or
her diploma course. Term Paper program brings student closer to the business
practical and thereby help them to substantiate their knowledge so that they can
prepare themselves to start a successful career.

Under the Term Paper program every student goes to an organization with a
view to acquire practical knowledge. Each student is required to prepare a report
on the selected organization under the guidance of his or her term paper
supervisor.

As per requirement we were given opportunity to study on the “perception of


employees regarding formal and informal training” of Abul Khair Steel
Products Limited.

Despite our all hearts efforts; there may still remain some errors, printing
mistakes and deficiencies for which we are alone responsible. Our effort will be
meaningful if this report serves the purpose.

fulfill our Term Paper requirements. He gave all the time and attention, which we
needed to complete our term paper and compile our term paper in as much
orderly way as possible.

encouragement while preparing this report.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Abul Khair Group is one of the largest business conglomerates in the country
established in 1953. It is now one of the most successful companies in terms of
its growth, profitability, introduction of state-of-the-art technology, and
professionalism. It is also one of the growing companies in the economy of
country. It can be easily identified by the function it performs in the economy. A
large number of employment is creating by this company. So it is very obvious
that company needs to perform well. Without devoted and enthusiastic
employee, performance cannot be achieved. Employment of such employee is
entire depending on the activities of Training & Development section under
Human Resources Department or Division.

Training in Abul Khair Steel Products Limited (AKSPL) (a concern of Abul Khair
Group) under its Human Resources Department is an endeavor to develop
required standard of manpower and skilled manpower in all units of the group
through continuous training, coaching and counseling programs.

This Term-Paper is done basically to give an idea about the Training &
Development Section and its activities in a local company like Abul Khair Steel
Products Limited (a sister concern of Abul Khair Group). This is a complete
descriptive Term-Paper. All the steps are described and explained here. Both
primary and secondary data are used. Data are collected through survey
(informal discussion and interview) and secondary method (book, official manual,
internet).

The Term-Paper was structured on a number of objectives. Term-Paper starts


with an explanation of the function of Training & Development structure of Abul
khair Steel Products Limited. Then proceeds through the description of current
Training & Development practice scenario by Abul Khair Steel Products Limited.
As Training & Development practice is a new concept, few studies are found on
it. The significance of this study is that now a particular study gap will be filled
up and it will indicate if any further related study is needed or not.
