Medical air compressor room ventilation (Exhaust Ducting)

According mgps committee meeting held on 27/11/2020 ,committee suggested a subcommittee to

make a proper ground study the technical necessity and requirements of the exhaust system and
submit its report.

The sub comitee includes following members.

1 Dr JPsharma (Anesthesia)

2Eng Manish pandey (Eng planning)

3 Eng Tanveer (Hvac)

4 Eng Deepak (Anesthesia-Mgps)

5 Eng Vinod Prasad (Bio medical)

Technical note

Newly installed Medical air compressors in medical gas plant (AIIMS BHOPAL) have no any heat
rejection provision(ventilation) ,The air compressors generate tremendous amount of heat, it must be
managed properly to avoid the shut down and equipment damage.

One of the most reason for compressor shut down is due to high temperature, typically occurring
which there is insufficient ventilation .So the proper ventilation is critical.

Compressors with no proper exhaust system, heat will exhaust in the same room and there is no
adequate air flow, the compressor cooling fan will absorb/utilize in already heated air to cause
compressor overheating. It’s a chance for plant failure.

According to HTM 02-01 part A SECTION 7.23) After-coolers (and inter-coolers) usually form part of the
compressor sub-assembly. After-coolers should be fitted to oil-lubricated medical air compressor
systems. These will normally be air-cooled, and may need ducting with forced ventilation to ensure an
adequate supply of cooling air.”   According to this mentioned Claus, it is clearly understood the
requirement of Exhaust Duct for Air Compressor.

So, Its necessary to install the ducting for proper ventilation. The exhaust duct will ensure the long
equipment life and efficiency.

Explanation from MDD medical pvt ltd

As per agreed scope of work as per Tender Terms & Conditions  regarding installed MGPS
System at AIIMS Bhopal, this Exhaust Ducting System for Air Compressor are not comes
under MDD Medical Systems India Pvt. Ltd. and to install the same system, Institute need
to bear the entire expenses are being incurred . where other Institute installed the Exhaust
Ducting System by their own cost.
