Laboratory Report Template

I. Title Section
• The names of all laboratory group members must be written in alphabetical order under this format:
SURNAME <comma><space> Initials of the Given and Middle Names <space> Suffix (if there is
one)
e.g., Thomas John Patrick J. Welling III → WELLING, T. J. P. J. III
II. Abstract
The abstract contains the entire laboratory report at the most minimal words as possible. The objective
is to get the attention of the reader, and to give the overall laboratory session without diving into details
yet.
A. The abstract must contain EXACTLY 200 words.
B. There must be five (5) keywords located after the abstract.
C. The layout must be justified.
D. The rest of the parts must be set into two (2) columns. See the example on the next page.
III. Introduction
The introduction is the part that tells the intention of the experiment, the question(s) it needs to answer,
and the variables present in the report. The following must be present in the introduction:
A. Inquiry question
B. Variables to be measured and related
C. Independent and dependent variables and constants in the activity
D. Hypothesis written as an if-then statement
IV. Process
The process is the part that discusses the content of the activity itself. It consists of the procedures, the
tools used, and the observations conducted in the activity. The following must be present:
A. Tools used and their availability
B. Procedure (must be in a paragraph format)
C. Values of the identified variables (must be tabulated and graphed)
D. General observations
V. Conclusion
The conclusions generally correlate all the variables given to determine whether the hypothesis is
answered or not, as well as the answer to the inquiry question presented earlier. The following must be
present:
A. The answer to the inquiry question with cited evidence
B. The involvement of the hypothesis in determining the answer to the inquiry question
C. Identifying the correlation of the identified variables and constants
VI. References

NOTES:
1. Each section of the laboratory report must contain at least 150 words.
2. The report must be straight to the point.
3. The abstract and the references are the only sections that have single spacing.
4. The minimum number of references is five (5). It must be in APA format, 6th edition.
5. Citations and references from Wikipedia are NOT allowed.
6. The laboratory report will be graded using the rubric below.
