Reorientation comment on the event Their courage and zeal was

extraordinary. Even though they only
used simple weapons they did not
hesitate and continued to advance to
the battlefield. They are willing to
sacrifice their property, soul and body
in order to defend their independence.
Therefore, to commemorate the
heroes of TRIP in fighting for
Indonesian independence in Malang,
a monument was built in the form of a
statue of two students carrying
weapons at the end of the road. This
monument was built so that their
service and perseverance will be
remembered throughout the ages. The
names of 35 TRIP members who died
are also engraved on the plaque beside
the statue.

The History of Heroes of Trip
On 21 July 1947 the Dutch attacked Indonesia with the aim of wanting to control it
again. This incident is commonly referred to as the Dutch Military Aggression I. The
city of Malang, which was the center of education in East Java, was also attacked by
the Dutch army. As a result, the TRIP (Indonesian Student Republic Army) was
ordered to participate in defending Malang City. The center of this battle was on
Salak Street (now on Pahlawan TRIP Street). TRIP Battalion 5000 troops were
deployed to various places. They were also assigned to burn all vital facilities and
buildings in Malang City. It was intended that if the Dutch were able to control
Malang, they would not get anything.
