External activities - CDO can be any work that you have done outside of the
conservatoire curriculum that is relevant to your development as a musician, or that
includes experiences likely to be useful to you in the future. This need not be
restricted to conventional performance or teaching activities. We are also interested in
all kinds of initiatives and innovations both off and online.
Please:
1. provide relevant information for each separate activity
2. complete the reflection section at the bottom of the form
The number of activities on this form is merely to provide space as required. You do not necessarily need to complete
10 activities, but can also do more.

Which of the above activities were most relevant to your future in the
profession, and why?
I think the videos I made solo and with my duo mate. It builds something, all
the effort put in improving my and our playing is audible and people can watch
and maybe enjoy it. So I think that in these times is almost the best thing a
musician can do.
From which one of these activities did you learn the most, and what was it that
you learned?
I think I have learnt not just from one activity, from two of them, which are
similar but opposite at the same time. The competition videos and my own well
edited videos. They are both videos, but the thinking behind and the objective
are much different. I have enjoyed way more to edit well my own video than
recording myself for a competition. And it is a big topic, but the satisfaction I
had owning a video and sharing it is much better and valuable than any good
feedback from the jury or an award. For the competition a video is a means to
an end, but for myself an own video is already the end, and it is a big
difference.
Describe a problem that you had to solve, or something that might have gone
better with one of these activities. How would you deal with it differently next
time?
I think the deadline of the videos or the concert proposals. It has been very
stressful in the last moment, always recording until the end and editing in the
last hour. If I had to do it again, I would try to do it with more time to be more
relaxed. It can be very stressful. Having more time and organising myself
better is much more pleasant and I could even enjoy the editing part to have
the most professional possible result.
Describe an unexpectedly positive experience that you had during one of these
activities. How did you take advantage of this?
I discovered how much I like to manage myself and to edit videos and photos.
I discovered I love this field and I did not expect it at all. From now on I will do
it much more.
How have this year’s CDO external activities helped you to develop your artistic
vision?
Not just the CDO but also all the master subjects. They changed my mind
completely. I understand well now the professional side of music nowadays and
I know what I have to do. And I think I understand now that I need to be
self-sufficient, I can not wait until an opportunity appears, I already have to
build an image as a musician.
What in general have you learned about yourself from these CDO external
activities?
I learnt that good material takes time. And sometimes it's worth it to think
really well about what is the next step because if I want to do high quality
content it will take a lot of time. There are a lot of steps involved and each of
them are done by professionals specialised in that field. For just one person to
be even close to that (once you own a decent equipment) is very difficult.
But I also learnt about myself that it is possible and each time I improve a little
bit more. I can not be very exigent with every video individually because I
think I will improve with time. Even if it is not 100% perfect as I would like it is
better to release it and keep going.
