What makes attending college make you successful?

Graduating from college will set an advantage in starting future careers. College plays an

essential factor in education, many jobs will hire first for having a degree rather than other

applicants without one. It might be costly depending what path will be followed, in the end it

will be worth the studying and hardwork. “People with bachelor’s degrees are more likely to be

employed and have a higher paying job, as a group they are more financially secure”. (Knerl)

Although some may say that having a college career isn’t the only way to succeed in life, going

to college is a step ahead to success because graduating can give many opportunities in future

careers than not attending college.

How may college guarantee you success you may ask? Isn’t college quite expensive?

Yes, college is quite exorbitant on where students are planning to attend at, in the end college

will set up many futures. “Bachelor’s degree holders earn an average of 66 percent more than

high school graduates”. (Knerl) Graduates with a degree earn much income compared to non

graduates. An increase of salary isn’t the only benefit you’ll receive, many job opportunities will

open up and most likely find work. According to BLS, “just 2.2% of workers with a bachelor's

degree are facing unemployment, compared to 4.1% of workers with only a high school

diploma.” (Bogle) Even if you plan to change careers in the future, you have your degree to set

back on.

Although many will argue that college is not for everyone. Which is true college since

their is other options to become successful in life. “Because so many people are going to college

now, those who do not graduate are often assumed to be unambitious or less capable”, Rampell

writes. (Karl) People have the mentality ever since being grade school, college will guarantee

you success and happiness. It’s quite false, many do not want to attend college since they think

it’s not for them or want to start a business instead. Living in a different generation compared to

back then, many can find success in starting their own small businesses and going from there or

find it by going viral on social media. If students have an entrepreneurial spirit, connections with

certain people, and the passion to create something new and life changing, there can be a

possiblity of becoming the new Steve Jobs. “Gates, for example, started a failing data company

before Microsoft, causing him to start from scratch. Without a backup plan, an incredible support

system, and unfailing work ethic, most of us can’t sustain these types of setbacks more than once

in a lifetime.” (Knerl). College isn’t the only option for essential success, but it is one of them.

In conclusion, graduating from college can give many opportunities in future careers than

not attending college. Many benefits that include having a higher education, better income and

many job opportunities that non graduates will have. Everyone has different paths in life from

everyone else no one is the same. Finding your own career that will work for yourself to bring

actual happiness and your own form of success. Anyone is essential for success.
