PART 3 - Power distribution system

.1 Incoming service(s) shall be provided as shown on drawing.

.2 The Electrical contractor shall verify with the landlord as to voltage and location of service
entrance prior to submitting his tender price and shall include all labour and materials to suit
site conditions.

.3 The Electrical Contractor shall make the necessary arrangements with the power company
and, if necessary, building owner for the final power connections to obtain power on
schedule. Co-ordinate with the Owner's representative.

.4 Tenant Electrical power shall consist of 600 volt, 200 ampere, 3-phase, 3-wire service
complete with main disconnect switch, 200 ampere splitter, fused disconnect switches for
A/C units and transformer, 75 KVA transformer, 84 circuit (400 ampere) panel complete with
65-15amp 1 pole, 1-30amp 3 pole, and 5-20 amp 1 pole breakers, and 12 circuit panel in
ABM closet complete with 6-15 amp 1 pole and 1 20 ampere 2 pole breakers, located in the
Tenants electrical closet as per tenants drawings/specifications. Panel servicing dedicated
outlets for computers to be complete with Transient Voltage Surge Suppresser.

.5 Alternatively, Tenant electrical power shall consist of 120/208 volt, 400 ampere, 3-phase, 4-
wire service complete with main disconnect switch, 400 ampere splitter, fused disconnect
switches for A/C units, 84 circuit (400 ampere) panel complete with 65-15amp 1 pole, 1-
30amp 3 pole, and 5-20 amp 1 pole breakers, and 12 circuit panel in ABM closet complete
with 6-15 amp 1 pole and 1 20 ampere 2 pole breakers, located in the Tenants electrical
closet as per tenants drawings/specifications. Panel servicing dedicated outlets for
computers to be complete with Transient Voltage Surge Suppresser.

.6 Incoming service shall be as shown on the drawings.

.7 Payment of connection to the power company shall be made directly by the Owner to the
power company. This is to prevent confusion or duplication of charges during tendering.

.8 If existing services are to be left unchanged, the Electrical Contractor shall, during his visit to
the site, before tendering examine service switches, panels, splitters, and report any code
violations or abnormalities to the Architect. He shall also report any deviation of existing
conditions from the plans so that an appropriate Addendum can be issued prior to Tender
closing.

.9 If existing services are to be modified, the Electrical Contractor shall, during his visit to site,
determine if the site conditions will prevent the modifications shown on plans, and report
same to the Architect before tendering.

.10 After awarding of the Contract, the Electrical Contractor shall open and clean service
switches, splitters, and distribution panels, tighten connections and correct any code
violations or abnormalities not previously reported during visit to site. All cost shall be
included in the Tender.
PART 4 - Safety Switches

.1 These shall be heavy duty, fusible, quick-make, quick-break, voidable cover interlock
lockable in "off" position with neutral bar where required.

.2 Fuse holders shall be required to suit rating and fuse types specified.

.3 Withstand rating 6 times continuous current break at rated voltage.

.4 Enclosure shall be NEMA 1 with drip shields except where weatherproof switches are
required; these shall be NEMA 3.

.5 All switches shall be of the same manufacturer and shall be General Electric, Schneider
Electric, Cutler Hammer, and Siemens.
Low Voltage Fuses
.1 Fuse sizes and types shall be as indicated on the drawings and this
section. Equipment holding the fuses shall be as specified, otherwise any
changes needed to convert the equipment to hold the specified fuses shall be at
this Contractor's expense. Equipment shall be provided to hold the specified
fuses.
.2 Fuses shall be CSA approved HRC type, voltage as required, Form 1
Class "J" non-renewable, as Manufactured by Cooper Bussman or Merson.

PART 5 - EXECUTION
PART 6 - installation

.1 Do complete installation in accordance with CSA C22.1 except where specified otherwise.

.2 Install materials in strict accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

.3 Confirm capacity or ratings of equipment being provided, when based on ratings of

equipment being provided under other trade Sections, before such items are purchased.
PART 7 - GROUNDING

.1 The entire electrical system shall be grounded and bonded in accordance with the
requirements of the Electrical Code and local utility authorities.

.2 The incoming neutral conductor shall be grounded with an insulated wire (size as shown on
drawings). This neutral is to be grounded at the entrance point only and the ground cable
shall be connected directly to the water main entrance, with an approved type ground clamp.
Also ground the main disconnect switch enclosure.

.3 Where transformers are used, the neutral point of the transformers shall be grounded with
an insulated wire and the enclosure grounded.

.4 Provide a separate ground in each conduit. Do not use the conduit as ground.
PART 8 - CO-ORDINATION OF PROTECTIVE DEVICES

.1 Ensure circuit protective devices such as overcurrent trips, relays and fuses are installed to
required values and settings.
PART 9 - NAMEPLATES AND LABELS

.1 Ensure manufacturer's nameplates, CSA labels and identification nameplates are visible and
legible after equipment is installed.

.2 Ensure circuit protective devices such as overcurrent trips, relays and fuses are installed to
required values and settings.
PART 10 - FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

.1 Load Balance:
PART 11 - Measure phase current to panelboards with normal loads (lighting)
operating at time of acceptance; adjust branch circuit connections as required to obtain
best balance of current between phases and record changes.
PART 12 - Measure phase voltages at loads and adjust transformer taps to within 2% of
rated voltage of equipment.
