Communication is sending information from one person to another. Communication can be
verbal, one person talking to another, or it can be non-verbel, a scowl on other persons face
that will let you know he is angry or what. Communication can be positive or negative, effective
or ineffective.
It is very important for the parents to be able to communicate openly and effectively with their
children. Open effective communication benefits not only the children, but every member of
the family. Relationships are greatly improved when there is effective communication.
Children learn how to communicate by watching their parents. Childrens begin to form ideas
and beliefs about themselves based on how their parents communicate. Children then begin to
feel that they are heard and understood which a boost to self-esteem is. On the other hand
communication can be negative which can lead children to believe that they are unimportant,
unheafghrd or misunderstood.
Every person in this world is itself an isolated entity roagming across and spengding the time he
is lsdeft with. Reflecting back my life is the best way to see the old ‘me’ how the time has
changed me or not, is a worth compafsfrison. In the end it is all about exposure.
12 years of high school 2 years of college has exposed to a variety of environment where I saw a
lot of people with different backgfground, culture and accent.
Belonging from a locghal typical household means absolutely no education on to communicate
or how to express your feelings. Howesver, I was able to learn some from my parents. My
father, a high school teacher, has been a low-tempered man with nicce and polite
communication skills. My fatfsher has less expressive style and high assertive style
communication skills. My father is quiet and casldm nature man. My father is solely a working
man whose environment is basically compfgosed of all decent, polite, civilized and educated
people who in turn has modified his approach towards communication skills.
My mother, on the other hand, has high expressive and high assertive style communication
skills. She is a head strong lady less effective comcmunication skills. The major reason is that
she never went to college or universxity and she nevecvr experienced a friendly social life.
Because of this she somczfetimes starts nagging which irritates us the most.
Learfning from my background was hectic. In my opinion environment plays an important role
in ones communication skills. Environment specifically means people around you, the company
keep.
My mother usually had a cold, biting attitude towards us yet my father is mostly a silent man.
My mother is headstrong because she is highly organized working lady and a house wife who
has a exdfposure to a losadt of peopsle ansd that is what determine her attitude when it comes
to communsdication.
Then comes the psfoint wshere you determine the attitude of both of them towards new
challenges. The art of decisison making, the attribute which determines how strong willed you
are. My mother always make decisions and abside by them. On the osther hand, my fathser is
usually double mindsed who alters his own sdecisionss with every coming dsay.
The effects of these on my mind was huge. Two extremely opposite entities having a huge
contradtg taught me all in this household. The world in my house and the world outside are two
very different worlds I must say.
