To Whom It May Concern:

I am currently seeking a freelance positions in the area of graphic design, and I would appreciate the opportunity
to work with your design team. While my experiences have been comprehensive and extremely valuable to me,
I am continuously looking for new opportunities to broaden my understanding of the world around me. I enjoy
reaching out to meet new people, and am always open to try new things, as to make myself aware of all that
surrounds me. I feel that this is important in expanding my horizons as a person, and as a designer.

As a result, I have had the opportunity to work professionally as a print-based graphic designer and photographer
with organizations including, but not limited to: the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), the
Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission
(M-NCPPC), Resource Connections of Prince George’s County (RCPGC), and while studying at York College of
Pennsylvania (YCP), have served as a Publications Chair for the Campus Activities Board (CAB), and also as a
web-based graphic designer for the Development and Alumni Relations departments, and Phi Sigma Pi National
Honors Fraternity.

At this point in my career, I am convinced that these experiences have enhanced my education, making me the
knowledgeable and well-rounded award-winning designer I am today. Should I be awarded the opportunity to work
within your creative department, I am confident that I could offer a distinct and inventive manner of thinking that
you could not find in anyone else.

I respectfully request that you please take the time to review my resumé, however an interview would allow me
an even better opportunity to present my portfolio and further demonstrate my abilities as a graphic designer.
I can be reached at avm.ctp@gmail.com or (201) 724-5577 to schedule an interview.

Thank you in advance for considering me.

Sincerely,

Angela Valente Marinelli

Artist’s Statement

My ultimate goal as a graphic artist is to aesthetically enhance the world around me while maintaining effective
visual communication. Through the application of art and design, I utilize creative talent and knowledge of the
process to produce work that will benefit and please others. I don’t believe in putting out any less than my full
effort when completing a task, whether in work, or in life.

I have dedicated my life to searching for ways of living life just a little simpler. I take life as it comes, and utilize
what I learn to set and conquer individual goals. As a result, I have developed a certain degree of resourcefulness,
and find myself adept in dealing with what may potentially be difficult situations. I try to remain flexible as to meet
the needs and wants of others, while attempting to remain true to myself, which has caused me to become quite
versatile as a graphic designer. Often, my simple demeanor is reflected in my designs; one would never suspect that
my creative process is as involved and comprehensive as it is.

Photography has also become a great passion of mine. I think it is absolutely amazing that through a simple pro-
cess, one can freeze a moment in time and keep it forever. Like a shutter is exposed to capture light,
photography encapsulates emotion; who doesn’t pick up a photograph without wanting to laugh, or cry, or just
think back in time. As a photographer, I feel privileged to be presented with the honor of capturing the cherished
moments of others. Photography also allows me to express myself on a deeper level. Others are able to see
the world through my eyes in a photograph, as I see the world through the lens of a camera.

Sometimes wise words come from the most unexpected faces. As spoken in the lyrics performed by the band
Blink 182, “This world’s an ugly place, but you’re so beautiful to me.” These are words I live by. Like most artists,
I, too, am influenced by the great masters of art and design. But more often than not, I look to my peers for
inspiration. It is those who I see and meet every day that motivate me to do the best I can at whatever I attempt.

Positive energy yields positive results. I find great pleasure in being faced with creative challenges, and exceeding
people’s expectations is something I have come to expect from myself. I hope to one day pass along these values
to succeeding generations. As for now, I do what I can to harness my own potential to do great things.

Talent does what it can. Genius does what it must. I do what I do...
