Diegetic Sound and Non-Diegetic Sound


Directions

You are going to find a movie scene and you are going to analyze the Diegetic Sound and
Non-Diegetic Sound.

1. Movie scene at least 5 min


2. How they used sound to create the scene (15 different sounds and are they Diegetic Sound or Non-Diegetic
Sound, and the time stamp it starts ex: 1:14 diegetic sound effect of _____ walking in the snow)
3. What could have been changed (music, sound effects, ect.)

What changes or feelings do you have for
the scene
For the diegetic sound I now feel more into the scene because now I know what happens in
the background and every noise makes the movie more interesting.

For the non-diegetic sound after realizing that almost all the sounds are made up it makes
the movie less interesting to watch. When people were voice acting this movie they had to
pause many times so they could input the sound into the movie. Without the sounds the
movie would be very weird
