 PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES
BEFORE REMOVING CYLINDER
HEAD
1_ Inform company & take permission and Prepare important
tools and spares required for overhauling as given in the
manual.
2. Carry out a Risk Assessment & ISM and meeting with all
involved personnel and explain to them about their
responsibilities and the safety procedures followed during the
overhaul.
3. Discuss the major overhaul plan with 2nd engineer and chief
engineer and inform deck department.
4. Check with the Manufacturer manual for all required tools for
disassembly an overhaul. Refer the manufacturer manual and explain all
working hands about the special precautions and safety measures
followed during overhaul.
All consumable spares like O rings, packing and Piston rings,....etC. Must
be checked and kept ready.
6. All major parts specified torques/ pressures for tightening &
Clearances,Calibration/measurements procedure and data must be
checked. Keep last overhaul reports for trend analysis.
7.Use the specified engine tools only to prevent the damage of
the respective part of the engine. In advance of using
exclusive tools, check the function of these tools.Carefully
check for any damages to high pressure pipe and joints of
hydraulic jacks.Use the specified lifting gear,
hook, rope, etc., and pay attention to safety when handling

8. During overhaul works with electrical tools, buffing, welding and
grinding, be careful of any spark generation. Since there is the possibility
of catching fire, try not to leave combustibles such as fuel, lubricating oil
and used waste cloth in a working area.
 DISASSEMBLY OF CYLINDER

REMOVING THE CYLINDER
HEAD
1.Detach the exhaust manifold cover and Remove the exhaust
manifold& Air manifold.
2.Disconnect all the cylinder head mountings.
3.Return fuel oil pipe.
4. Fuel injection pump pinion Lube oil pipe.
5.Drain the jacket water of the concerned unit & Remove
Cooling water connection pipe.
6.Detach indicator cock.
7 Fuel injection pipe joint.
8. Fuel injection pipe cap nut and fuel
injection pipe from the cylinder head.
9.Detach the roCker arm chamber cover, and remove the
rocker arm shaft pedestal, suction exhaust valve guard and
pushrod.
10.Remove the fuel valve tightening the nut, put the fuel valve
drawing tool and jack itout
11.Remove the prote ctive cap of a cylinder head bolt and
clean the threaded area.
12.Follow the maker's instruction for opening the Cylinder
head bolts in the correct sequence. It can be erther of
manual opening or by the use of the Hydraulic jack.

‫في البداية يتم تنظيف رأس االسطوانه بقطعة قماش ثم يتم الكشف عن وجود شروخ فيها والتي من‬
‫املمكن أن تحدث نتيجه رباط زيادة أو عيب صناعه أو نتيجة أرتفاع درجة الحرارة أو أنسداد جزء تبريد ‪.‬‬
‫بعدها يتم الكشف على صمامات الهواء والعادم والتي من املحتمل أن تكون فيها أضرار‬
‫نتيجة حرارة أو جزيئات صلبه أتيه مع الوقود مما يسبب نحرأو‪. damage‬‬

 ‫‪COOLING HOLES INSPECTION‬‬

‫يتم الكشف والتأكد من حالة فتحات التبريد وعدم وجود أنسداد فيها عن طريق سد جميع‬
‫الفتحات وترك واحده حيث يتم أدخال ماء وهواء مضغوط اليها ومن خالل مقياس الضغط‬
‫يمكن التعرف على حاله فتحة التبريد اذا ما وجد فيها تسريب فأن مقياس الضغط‬
‫سوف يقل ‪.‬‬
 ‫‪VALVES INSPECTION‬‬

‫يتم رفع الياي (‪ )spring‬لصمامات الهواء والعادم والتأكد من حالتها وضمان عدم وجود كسر فيها‬
‫حيث يتم رفعها بواسطه أداة خاصة بعدها يتم أخراج الصمامات وتنظيفها جيدا والتأكد من عدم‬
‫وجود اي اضرارفيها والتي من املمكن أن تحصل فيها نتيحه أرتفاع درجة حرارة غرفة االحتراق أو نتيجة‬
‫وقود س يء و أيضا التأكد من أن الصمام يجلس بصوره صحيحة على ال‪ seat‬الخاصة به ‪.‬‬
