1. Derivation of the Formula

The Laplace transform is defined by

Z∞
f (s) = L{F (t)} = e−st F (t) dt. (1.1)
0

Recently [1] it was shown that

Z∞
e−st sin(qt) F (t) dt = Im{f (s − iq)}, (1.2)
0

where Im{f (s − iq)} is the imaginary part of f (s − iq) and q is real.

Starting from
Z∞
L{F1 (t) F2 (t)} = e−st F1 (t) F2 (t) dt, (1.3)
0

one can reach [2]

Z∞ Z∞ Z∞
  
2 0
L{F1 (t) F2 (t)} = dq  e−st/2 sin(qt) F1 (t) dt  e−st /2 sin(qt0 ) F2 (t0 ) dt0  .

Hence, using (1.2)

Z∞

L{F1 (t) F2 (t)} = dq Im{f1 ( − iq)} Im{f2 ( − iq)}. (1.5)
