Task 1 - Analyze and discuss the following topic:

“Intercultural Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages between

people whose cultural backgrounds could lead them to interpret verbal and nonverbal signs
differently”. - (Bovée & Thill, 2018). It is said that different parts of the world use various
approaches when communicating with outsiders. Some communicate in high-context cultures,
while others in low-context cultures. Discuss the importance of being aware of your own cultural
values when working with colleagues and clients who do not share your cultural values or
customs and give examples of the barriers to effective intercultural communication assuming
superiority, similarity, differences, stereotyping and prejudice. Explain the ideology of
ethnocentrism and the appropriate time to apply it. Lastly, what role does cultural competency
play when it comes to communicating with those who are different from us?

views on information and data found while conducting their research.

- The candidate’s ability to suggest/recommend areas of improvement based on the

results from the research findings.
