WHY RIZAL?
This is one of the questions that baffles anyone enrolled in this subject.
Why Rizal? Why not Bonifacio? Why Rizal? When we have Lapu-Lapu?
Answer the following questions:

1. What do you think are the qualities and characteristics of a person for
him/her to be considered a Hero? (10 points)
 To be considered as a hero you should have the qualities and
characteristics of having; strength, braveness, determination,
inspiration, helpful, and moral integrity. As a hero you should
have the strength and braveness to fight for your purpose, to
fight for your rights and to raise the justice you should fight for.
You should also have your determination and your inspiration
to motivate yourself every now and then to remind your
purpose and goal of success. Being helpful and having the
moral integrity should always be part of your vocabulary.

2. Based on the qualities and characteristics you mentioned above, who

among the people you know fits into your definition of a Hero? Why
do you consider him/her a hero? (10 points)
 Based on the qualities and characteristics that I’ve mentioned
above, I can say that my father fits of being a hero. My father
was the founder of The Malaybalay City Federation of United
Motorela Operators and Drivers Association and doing almost
all the functions in their organization without salary just to help
all the Motorela Operators and Drivers within our locality.
Through his strength and braveness, he fought for the rights of
every Motorela Operators and Drivers in this City even though
there are lots of hindrance and obstacles in his term as a
president. He made a goal of having livelihood programs and
projects for all the Motorela Operators and Drivers so that he
can help their families as well. Having moral integrity is his
number one priority on serving the people.

3. If you were to elect another historical figure as our National Hero,

who would it be and why? (10 points)
 If I would elect another historical figure as our National hero, I
would elect Andres Bonifacio as also deserving of the title.
Andres Bonifacio founded the secret revolutionary society in
1892 called KKK (Kataastaasan, Kagalang-galang na Katipunan
ng mga Anak ng Bayan) and known as the Father of the
Katipunan. He fought for the Philippines through all his
strength and braveness to achieved the Freedom and
Independence that we are cherishing right now in our status
qou. He has the quality of being time efficient and being
responsible of lifting a whole revolutionary society to fight for
our rights. He even devoted on Patriotism and Love for his
Native Language. He pledged and offer his life for the freedom
of the whole country from the invaders and abusive friars.
1. Who is Jose Rizal for you?
What comes to your mind when you hear the name, “Jose Rizal”? Do
you consider him as the country’s hero? Why or why not? Spill it out!
(20 points)
 Every time I hear the word or name of ‘’Jose Rizal’’, the first
thing that comes up in my mind is ‘’Intelligent Hero’’. Jose
Protasio Rizal Mercado Y Alonso Realonda is one of the heroes
that I considered as a really brilliant one. He fought for the
Philippines’ right and freedom through his political writings
that inspired the Philippine revolution and ultimately led to his
execution by the spanish colonizers. He has the quality of being
brave enough to write political writings regarding the
Philippines’ situation with the friars. Jose Rizal also is a time
efficient hero where he even studied multiple courses to
improve and expand his knowledge that he can use for helping
the Philippines to achieve the goal of having Independence. He
was very determined to fought for his beloved country even his
life was on danger. Fighting through his political writings is his
way of showing his patriotism and Nationalism on our country
‘Philippines’

2. His Life to Mine

Choose at least three (3) important events in the life of Rizal that
greatly influenced him and write a short biographical essay
comparing your life experiences to Rizal’s own.
(20 points)

Many of us experienced an event in our lives that made a

huge impact on our perspective towards life. For our National
Hero Dr. Jose Protasio Rizal Mercado Y Alonso Realonda, the
three important events in his life that greatly influenced him
are; when Rizal learned on how to read, write and listened,
when he witnessed the evilness of the Spanish People towards
the Filipinos, and when he went to Europe to find and learn
more effective ways to prove that Filipinos could be something
else and does not deserve all the maltreatments by the cruel
invaders. These events on Jose Rizal’s life made our status quo
experience the life with independence and freedom from our
own land.
Young children are eager to learn and explore more
things, knowledge and experiences, so as our National hero.
The first teacher of Jose Rizal was his beloved mother. At a very
young age, our national hero ‘s imaginative and critical
thinking was triggered through learning and expanding his
knowledge on how to read, write, and analyze stories. Rizal
even wrote his first poem ‘’Sa Aking mga Kababata’’ at the age
of eight and this poem has the theme ‘Love of One’s Language’.
As a student, I can relate this experience from my childhood life
where we are eager to discover everything due to our curiosity,
this made me a willing and always eager to reach the victorious
goal in every task and missions. As time goes by, Rizal
witnessed the cruelty and maltreatment of the Spaniards
towards the Filipinos on their own land. Experiencing this
evilness from the Friars triggers his mind and soul to be free
from the chaos brought by the colonizers in their own land. It is
an important aspect for us to have freedom and justice as we
continue our journeys in life. Even if I am in that situation
where I am being maltreated and degraded, I would really find
a way on how to fight for my right and to seek for equality.
Having obstacles in life makes us more stronger and braver to
find ways on how to be free from those challenges like what
Rizal did, as he went to Europe he studied and engaged himself
to lots of learnings so that he would have more knowledge
regarding on his political writings ( Noli me tangere , El
Filiusterismo) that made a huge impact for the Philippines
Revolutionary actions.
We all have experiences or events in life that would
highly influence us. Obstacles and challenges are normal on our
lives, we just have to find ways on how to deal with it and cope
up. Like Dr. Jose Rizal, life might be rough to us but we can
always choose to fight than to surrender. Moral Integrity
should always be in our vocabulary. Rizal fought through his
writings instead of swords, this made us reflect that not all
problems can be solved through violent. Let us be united and
always fight for what is right.
