UK - Business, Operations &

Marketing
General
Code of Conduct

When you signed up to be a member of Bright Network, you agreed to abide by our Code of
Conduct that you can read here. We have a zero tolerance policy towards inappropriate
behaviour during your Internship Experience - any breach of the Code of Conduct will result
in your immediate removal from the programme, and could also result in us revoking your
membership. Please also re-familiarise yourself with our membership guidelines here.

Please note any inappropriate/off-topic chat will be immediately removed. Usage of the chat
functionality in the seminars (stage) is to be used only for questions for the speakers.

Programme

Please find a link to the IEUK: Business, Operations and Marketing programme here. You
can find details of the agenda, speakers and their backgrounds. Please also consult the
Alumni Office Hours section to understand which firm representatives and alums will be
available to hear from on Day 2 (12:30-1:30pm).

Hopin How-to

For any general IEUK questions as well as detailed instructions on how to use Hopin, please
see here.

Technical issues

Please see here for tech troubleshooting. The main reasons that Hopin is not working
correctly are:
- Using the wrong browser: please ensure you are on Chrome or Firefox AND that is
it the most recent version. You can check here.
- Slow internet speed: We recommend a minimum of 5mbps download and 2mbps
upload. Ideally, we like to see 30mbps download and 10mbps upload or higher for
the best quality - test your speed here.
- Other devices/platforms connected: If you are having trouble accessing the event,
ensure your device is not streaming from any other platforms and restart your
computer.
- Hopin blocked due to firewalls: Please sign into a VPN.
Slides from Seminars

Please note that we cannot provide our clients’ presentations as this is their intellectual
property. Additionally, please do not take screenshots/videos of the slides as this is in
violation of our Code of Conduct. We have intentionally scheduled the seminars on day 1
with plenty of breaks to ensure you only need to focus and take notes for short periods of
time.

Work Sample
The work sample and instructions will be available after the work sample session on Tuesday.

Please find the work sample model answer and scoring matrix here

Please ensure you use the rest of Day 2 to research the task and start building your answer.
The 1:1 networking sessions and Alumni Office Hours are invaluable opportunities to ask any
questions you may have. You must complete your work sample task by 11:00am on
Wednesday (Day 3), and be ready to share your work with a peer (via a shareable Google
Drive/We Transfer Link) at 11:30am on Wednesday using the 1:1 networking function, or by
finding a partner yourself. You will not have to submit your work sample until you fill out the work
sample marking form (emailed to you tomorrow) where you will have to attach your work sample
task.

The ‘model’ answer will be emailed to you with the scoring matrix and marking form ~10:45am
on Day 3.

Important Points

● You cannot fail the work sample, it is intended to give you a taste for the type of
work you may be asked to do during an internship. Give it your best go and don’t
worry if you make mistakes - it’s a learning experience!
● There is no ‘perfect’ answer, it is open to your ideas and interpretation. The model
answer you will be provided with is just one way to approach it.
● As long as you try your best and submit your work sample at the end, along with
feedback on someone else's, you will get a certificate (details on this below)
● All information/data to complete the task is freely available online - do your research!
● Approach the task as you would if you were set it by a manager in a real working
environment

*Please note, the Bright Network team on the Help Desk are not Business, Operations &
Marketing experts, so will only be able to help with formatting, process and technical issue
queries!

*Please also note that o

n the pack provided by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, it talks about
saving some of the money for step 3 which is innovation. Please ignore this and
do not put any money aside for innovation - this is not relevant to your task.

General
