How did you create the chart?

It's a standard column bar chart with one series and just one data point within
the series. The column was formatted for Gap Width 0 and Overlap 100. This
widened the column to be the same size as the chart area.

The chart area was then resized to look like an appropriate width for a
thermometer. The gray lines on the thermometer are chart gridlines. The gray
outline is the plot area outline formatted to appear gray. The tick marks on the
thermometer were achieved by changing the format for the Y axis tick marks.

The final touch was to add a circle shape to the bottom of the column and then
link the value to the the circle so it updates appropriately. A square autoshape
was added and carefully sized to bridge the gap between the circle and the
bottom of the thermometer. The circle and the square were grouped together
for easier placement.
