Who would have thought that raising your arms when your teacher asks for the attendance

and
tapping one's shoulder to ask attention to someone would be one of the Laban BESS Theory?
Rudolf von Laban would. He is a man with many talents, especially in dancing. He forms the
theory of the Laban BESS Movement theory because he was as curious as a child who wonders
where the babies coming from. Laban thought a distinction between movements we used for
functions like cooking, cleaning, and etc. and expressive movements like dancing and acting.

The BESS stands for Body, Effort, Space, and Shape. It implies what and how does the body parts
moves, how it does it, how it responds to space, and how functions and communication are
influencing the characteristics of the movement. These movements are an integral aspect of life
because movements affect the circulation, digestion, metabolism, and physical figure.
Especially, during this global outbreak, teenagers are couch potatoes were all should physically
active at home to decrease the risk of being infected.

When I was in high school, I joined  team dance competitions like folk dance, jingles,
contemporary dance, and dances that don’t require quick, bound, and indirect motion factors.
Regardless, I have a slow molasses mind interpreting dance steps. I make a lot of effort at home
or even during breaks to practice. They always told me to feel the rhythm and to instinctively let
the body moves. Also, if the motion is free and bound, the flow of energy differs.
Our dance instructor always sirens because I am a double left-footer that ruins the  group
performance’s image .It hurts and embarrassed me being scolded in the public because I wasn't
able to keep up with their timing, nor I was too ahead of the dance steps often. Still, I pursue
dancing to express myself aside from having academic points.  I have tried softball, where
swinging the bat using your arms with most force and running into bases requires physical
stamina. Still, I always missed hitting the ball and I got frustrated so I stop doing it.

Unexpectedly, the pandemic ruins everything that would gather people in one place. The
government declared lockdown to prevent the number of infected cases. People are
advised to stay at home. Meanwhile,  I am a couch potato during the lockdown. I eat when I'm
hungry, I sleep when I feel to, and then play with my phone to watch anime but I realize one day
that I am turning an obese elephant and it made me conscious. Furthermore, I convinced myself
to do Chloe Ting Videos-inspired workouts. I adopted his schedule of free workouts. During the
workouts, I was like a pig rolling at the yoga mat with glowing sweat all over my body. It was a
hellish journey because I couldn't lift up my body when doing push-ups and bicycle crunches.
With workout, I also lessen my  proportion of food intake
which means less rice, no sodas, and more water.  Among Laban 's distinct movements, my
movements are practical for survival.

Some teenagers slack off on their bed buzzing with their phones, which is not good for their
wellbeing because the muscles nneed to stretch to prevent less elasticity, joint fatigue, and loss
of stability. Consequently, these effects also lessen the capabilities of doing specific movements
to do certain tasks, and these increase the risk of being infected with the virus.
The Laban BESS Theory implies not only dancing but the growth of the entire character
movement. Rudolf von Laban helps us understand to comprehend the concept of human
movements that we use every day.

1. Dance – dancing is an example of movement . this uses the body as an instrument to express
one's self through exploring and keeping up with the rhythm of the music.
