METHODOLOGY AND SEQUENCE OF INSTALLATION FOR

SA 90 ARCHITECTURAL EXPANSION JOINT SYSTEM


Installation Procedure for Architectural Expansion Joints:-

01) Surface Preparation:-

a) The joint gap in which the Expansion Joint is to be installed is checked for uniform
opening throughout the joint location. If the joint gap is not of uniform size, then the
same shall be dressed and leveled by the Main Contractor or by Installation party as
agreed.

b) The gap is to be checked for any type of structural irregularity or other types of
obstruction in joint location, if found these irregularities or obstruction are to be
removed to ensure proper seating of the Joint assembly inside the gap.

02) Placing of Joint Assembly:- While placing the joint assembly in position, it shall
be ensured that no foreign material is left around the joint location and the area shall
be thoroughly cleaned. After complete cleaning of gap location, the joint assembly is
placed on the gap ensuring true line & level. The anchorages are then fastened in to
the drilled locations with sleeves already inserted.

03) Fixing of Joint Assembly:- Placed joint assembly is again checked for its true
line, level & aesthetic appearance and the anchorages are fully tightened.

04) Cleaning of the Joint Location:- After fixing of the joint, the joint location is
carefully checked for any type of projection, slurry deposit etc. if any, around the
installed joint. The same shall be removed & waste material around joint shall also
be removed for proper working of Expansion Joint Assembly.

After complete installation of joint, the final finishing of the surrounding surface, if
required is carried out taking care that any ingress of cement slurry or grout into the
joint shall not take place, as it may affect the performance of the joint
