TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES
PRE-LESSON 1. Teacher gives Pupils a topic of debate about “Which is more effective for
maintaining our weight and health, exercise or proper diet?”
2. Teacher divides Pupils into two groups. One is “exercise” and the other one is
“proper diet”.
3. Teacher will provide Pupils with articles to read and Pupils are also allowed to refer
other reading materials from other resources to find more information.
4. Pupils will discuss and write their main ideas and reasons for the debate.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT 1. After reading and brainstorming for 20 minutes. Pupils will send a representative
from both sides. During the debate group members are allowed to help representative
if the representative is facing difficulties
2. First each representative will present why their method (exercise/proper diet) is the
best by giving factual evidence and reasons.
3. After that there will be a rebuttal session where the representative will rebuttal the
points given by the other group representative.
4. After the rebuttal each group can defend or answer the rebuttal given from the other
group.
POST-LESSON 1. Teacher will ask all Pupils to freely choose which method is the best to maintain
weight and health and lastly try to summarize the reasons, to come up with a
conclusion that everyone can agree with.
