>THERE’S NOW A MACHINE THAT WILL SORT YOUR

SWEETS BY COLOUR AND IT’S MAGICAL

I love the brown M&Ms, but hate the blue ones. And that’s a problem for me - it often
means I’ll opt for a bag of another sweet treat instead, just so that I can avoid searching
through the bag for my favourite colour for hours on end.

The sorter uses two Arduino Nanos and two

EasyDrivers to sensor and the motors. It features two
easy buttons so that you could never get confused over
what you’re doing, and even an LED light system thst
indicates which colour is being sorted at that current time.
Now, for the not so great news - while the machine works
with both Skittles and MEMs, it cannot segregate between
the two - so if you’re looking to enjoy both at same time,
it’s best you sort them separately.
But hey, one step at a time people - at least I can finally
enjoy th brown MEMs without worrying about an
But it looks looks as though I canstart treating myself to accidental
M&Ms, as one guy’s brilliant idea has resulte in never
having to search through your bag of sweets again.
Willem Pennings has created sweet-sorting machine that
sorts each sweet into their own section of colour .
By powring your unsarted MEMs into the top of
machine, they flow through and are each sorted
into their dish. Willem writes: It takes
approximately 2-3 minutes to sort a 300 g bag of
Skittles / MEMs and sorts about 2 pieces per
second. The machine is 250 mm in diameter and
approximately 300 mm in height.
So, how does the machine ensure it doesn’t get your
least favourite? Well, it uses and RGB sensor that
assesses the colour of sweet before placing it into
the corretct dish.
