largest and most respected museums in the world, with over 32 million objects. With collections
spanning everything from plant and animal specimens, right through to human artefacts, fossils,
minerals and more, the museum offers a virtual window on the world’s rich diversity.

Opera and Mamma Mia!, to edgy (egi) thought-provoking plays, often featuring big-name actors

cost of cosmetic procedures here compared to nations such as Thailand, Singapore, Mexico and
India, all of which have experienced marked increases (incrisis) in medical tourism in recent
years, the NYC still remains a plastic surgery mecca for those who seek the highest quality
results.
3.Describe and/or present 3 (three) lesser known attraction in your study area.
Socrates Sculpture Park was once an abandoned landfill; in the 1980s, it was turned
into an open studio and exhibition space for artists, as well as a neighborhood park. It is now an
outdoor museum and public park where artists can create sculptures and multi-media
installations. It is located one block from the Noguchi Museum at the intersection of Broadway
and Vernon Boulevard in the neighborhood of Astoria, Queens.
Designed by Cass Gilbert and built in 1913, the Woolworth Building was once the
world's tallest and was famed for its Gothic exterior. Unfortunately, only the wealthy residents
were privy to its beauty, as outsiders weren't allowed in. Thankfully, that's all changed now.
The last lesser known attraction is a real tropical jungle hidden in Manhattan. What
makes it so remarkable (rimarcâbăl) is that it is located inside an office building. The building is
an oversized tropical greenhouse made of glass and steel.

5. Describe the main tourism disadvantages of your study area.
Overtourism is a big problem because it creates negative environmental (envairomentăl)
and social impacts. In terms of environmental impacts, overtourism contributes to an increase in
water consumption, air pollution, litter and waste in tourism destinations.
With the growth and development of tourism in New York comes the noise from tourists,
cars, bars and nightclubs. Both light and noise pollution create an adverse environment for
people living in the area.
As a result of indiscriminate construction of high-rise buildings and infrastructure
facilities, the provision of water supply and waste disposal facilities may get disrupted.

Increased prices on goods and services

We all know that tourist areas tend to be more expensive than in other places. While it’s
good for the business owners, this can negatively affect the locals. During the high tourist
season, the prices of essential goods rise, making them less affordable for the locals.
For example, people have to pay more to enjoy a meal in their favourite restaurant, just
because it because too popular with tourists.
In conclusion, the economic importance of tourism to New York City's economy is
substantial. Jobs in hotels, restaurants and museums are strongly tied to the visitor market.
