Topic: Food and Drinks

Sub Topic: Vegetables

Learning Materials:

1. Vocabularies:
Farmer,farm,cabbage,onion,corn,lettuce,cucumber,potato,broccoli,spinach,carrot,
yummy,delicious,healthy.
2. Expression/ Structure:
“what is vegetable?”, “is it a cabbage?”, “is it a onion?”, “is it a corn?”, “is it a lettuce?”,
“is it a cucumber?”, “is it a potato?”, “is it a broccoli?”, “is it that a spinach?”, “what color
is that carrot?”
3. Sound:
“L as Lettuce” , “P as potato”

Teaching Aid(s):
 Real vegetables OR plastic vegetables OR flashcards / pictures for the following:
carrot,potato, cabbage, onion, spinach, corn (on the cob if possible),
lettuce,cucumber
 1 blindfold
 Construction paper / card (to glue the basket craft on)
 Colored crayons or pencils
 Glue
 Blue tak or tape to stick flashcards on the wall
 CD / Tape player / Computer or something to play the song on

Procedure / activities:
1. Opening / Introduction / Set Induction
a. Greet the students
b. Check the attendance
c. Make a circle, sing a song, and pray
d. Tell students that today they will discuss about vegetable
e. Assess prior knowledge by asking about the taste, color, and other things about
the vegetables shown using a flashcard or real vegetables or plastic vegetables
f. Teach vegetable vocabulary,hold up the first vegetable and chorus the word
three times (e.g. "carrot, carrot, carrot"). Then pass the vegetable around the
class, each student saying the name as they pass it. Do this for all of the
vegetables.

2. Main Activities / Procedures


a. Play "Find the Vegetables" If possible, before class buy one of each of the
following vegetables (and other kinds if you like): a carrot, a potato, a cabbage,
an onion, a spinach, corn (on the cob if possible), a cucumber, a lettuce. If you
can’t bring vegetables into class, other options are: plastic vegetables
(sometimes available at dollar shops and toy shops), vegetable flashcards,
vegetable photos cut out of free supermarket magazines. Also, bring in a basket
for the vegetables.
b. Play "The Missing Vegetable" and "Blindfold Touch" Line all the vegetables up on
a desk. Say "Close your eyes" and get everyone to cover and close their eyes.
Take away one of the vegetables and hide it behind your back – everyone must
open their eyes and shout out the missing vegetable. Play this until all of the
vegetable vocabulary has been practiced.
c. Read the book “The Farmer's Vegetables”
d. Sing "Mr. Farmer’s Vegetables" Prepare for the song by taking out the flashcards
of the vegetables. Show each one in the order of the song (so carrot first, potato
next, etc.) and stick each one on the walls of the classroom.

3. Closing
a. Ask the child's feelings during the day
b. Discuss what activities have been played today, and ask for the conclusion of the
activity
c. Informs about tomorrow's activities
d. Pray after studying
