Trabajo 02 – 1er Semestre de 2021

Student Outcome: (1) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of
engineering, science, and mathematics

Solve the following problems of kinematics of particle, according to the methodology shown in the class’s examples.
Deliver the results digitally (scanned in PDF), well organized and in legible handwriting, otherwise it is recommend transcribed
it in Microsoft Word.

1. (5 pt.) The center C of a hoop (radius 1 m) has a rotation movement around the fixed-point o, due to a pin joint. The
movement law of the hoop is given by:
  
=  sen  t  [rad]
2 4 
A particle P (mass 1 kg) is forced to slide on the periphery of the hoop in such a way that its position respect to the hoop
is ruled by law:

s= t2 [m]
3
If the contact between the particle and the hoop has not friction and the particle's movement respect to the hoop is due
to a tangential force to it, of unknown magnitude. Calculate the reactive forces over the particle when it has described an
arc of:
4 
[m]
3

2. (5 pt.) A bolt P (mass 1 kg) is forced to slide inside a grounded circular channel, of radius 2 m with which there is a
friction coefficient  = 0.2, between the slot and the bolt. Also, the bolt slides into the groove of rod OA with no friction,
which rotates around point O, in the vertical plane. At the instant shown in the figure (  = 60°) the rod has an angular
velocity of 2 rad/s and an angular acceleration of 1 rad/s2, both absolute and counterclockwise. Calculate all the reactive
forces acting on the bolt. Assume the acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s2.

3. (5 pt.) The system has a ring (center C, radius 2 m), a rod OB and a particle A (mass 1 kg). The ring rolls with no slipping
(no friction) on a horizontal surface, the rod has a rotation movement around the fixed-point O and the particle A is forced
to slide on the periphery of the ring and in the groove of the bar OB. The angular velocity of the rod is 1 rad/s and its
angular acceleration is 3 rad/s2, both clockwise. The disc rotates at an angular velocity of constant magnitude of 2
rad/s counterclockwise. Determine the absolute velocity and acceleration vectors of particle A. Calculate for the
configuration shown, the reactive forces acting on particle A. Assume there is no friction between the particle and its
contacts.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
• Solution methodologies different from those shown in classes could be taken as fraud and copying or, that
the problems were solved by other people. If you cannot prove otherwise, it will lead to a penalty or low score.

• Do not try to transcribe solutions found on the internet, because it will lead the corresponding penalties and
low score.
• If you are going to do your homework by hand, it is recommended to use blank paper. In the following example,
although the handwriting is adequate, good, and legible, avoid a presentation similar to the one shown below:
