An opinion essay
It is sometimes said that social media friends are not real friends. Give your own opinion of
this view, commenting on the best and worst aspects of online friendships and how face to
face interactions are different.

It is sometimes said that social media friends are not real friends. We live in the age when
many of us use smartphones, network, communicate with other people on various internet
platforms, but in my opinion those people cannot be called true friends. Friendship live and
online is different.
Firstly, let us take a look at online relationship problems. It is hard to trust those people we
meet in internet, They may be lying about their age, their appearance and maybe even their
name! Secondly, online friends usually live far away and as a result, they could not be around
when you have a problem. True friends always support you, they stay close when you have hard
time. Lastly, it is difficult to know what their habits, speaking intonations, emotions are and this
is all that is really important in communication and friendship.
Personally speaking, I have very few true friends, but we have a lot in common. We spend
time face to face, travel, sing, dance- share good emotions. They help me deal with troubles.
Therefore, I call them true friends. Online friends may do be good friends, however they will
never be as close as those who are always with you.
To sum up, the strongest relationships are not in social media. True friends are those with whom
you can go through a variety of events together.
