(MEHWISH AYUB)

Q1. What are prerequisites of Amazon listing products? Explain GTIN exemption?

Prerequisites of Amazon Listing Products

 Product details: Title, barcode, brand name, variations, material type etc.
 Images of the product
 Supporting documents
 GST number (except for books)
 Approvals: GTIN and category gating
>>Product ID or barcode is a unique identifier assigned to each finished or
manufactured product.
>>GTIN Global Trade Item Number is 12/14-digit barcode (GTIN) In case one
doesn’t have product ID or barcode for products you can apply from GTIN
exemption.
GTIN Exemption:
You may be qualified for a GTIN exemption if your product does not have a product
ID, also known as a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number). Check the Amazon
catalogue first to verify if your product is already available. If your product is like one
already on the market, you can place your offer on the existing product's detail page
without using a GTIN.
If your product does not match an existing product, you must first acquire a GTIN
exemption before adding your product.
Below are some examples of the products which fall under GTIN exemption
 Products having no barcodes Handmade products
 Non-Branded Products (no barcodes)- Example Disposable Glasses
 Bundle of Products more than one product. For example, a pack containing a
leather belt and wallet or a pack of two shirts.
 Electronic Spare parts which do not have barcodes
How to request a GTIN exemption
Before you apply, make sure you have the following:
 Product name and a minimum of two (and maximum of nine) images showing
all sides of your product and the packaging of the product. Ensure below
mentioned guidelines are met:
o Brand name entered during application process should be an exact
match to brand name available on the product and/or packaging.
o Images should be real-world pictures of the products and packaging,
meaning the product and packaging need to be held in hand, or placed
on a table while clicking the picture.
o Branding is permanently affixed on the packaging and/or product.
o Products should not have GS1 approved barcode available on the
product and/or packaging of the product. If a GS1 approved barcode is
available, you can make use of same to list products instead of
applying for GTIN Exemption.
Once you have your product images, follow the steps below to apply for a GTIN
exemption.

select the relevant Product category from the pop-up list.

apply for multiple exemptions (up to 10) by clicking + Add more

click + Add more categories to add new categories.
3. Click the Check for eligibility button. An Eligibility summary will appear. A

same product.

request. Alternatively, you can check the status of your request in your case log.

Q2. What is buybox & what are the requirements to win the buybox?

BUYBOX:
The Buy Box is the white box on the right side of an Amazon product description
page where customers can add things to their cart for purchase.
The Buy Box is not available to all sellers.
When a customer purchases a product through this section, the seller with the
highest Amazon ranking at the time will appear. The Buy Box winner will make more
sales than any other seller for that product (unless there are numerous high-ranked
sellers – in which case, they will rotate in the Buy Box, each getting their share of
product sales).

Requirements to win Buybox:

While there’s no sure-fire formula to landing in or winning the Buy Box rotation, there
are four minimum criteria you must meet if you want to be in the running:
1. Professional seller account.
Only sellers who have purchased a Professional Seller account (in Europe called a
Pro-Merchant account) are eligible. An individual seller (in Europe: Basic account) is
not.
2. Buy Box eligibility status.
Your status can be checked in Amazon Seller Central.
3. New items.
Your item must be new.
Used items aren’t eligible for the regular Buy Box, though they can be sold on a
separate Buy Used Box.

4. Availability.
There needs to be inventory of your listed item.
Without stock, the Buy Box will simply rotate to another seller.
