Question(s) and Reply(ies): Question (1): When constructing a vessel using clad plate, a WPS is to be qualified
following the provisions of QW-217(a), since the strength of the cladding will be
considered in the design calculations. Does the tensile testing acceptance criteria of
QW-153.1(b) apply?
Reply (1): No.
Question (2): If the reply to Question (1) is "No", is the tensile testing acceptance criteria
based upon the tensile strength of the base metal substrate per QW-153.1(a)?
Reply (2): Yes.
