 All about Pizza!
People think that pizza was first made in Italy.
Actually, it was made in Ancient Greece. The Ancient
Greeks used to bake flat breads and topped them with
herbs and oil. Eventually, the flat breads made their
way to Italy and the local people loved them. They
called it Pizza and started to add more toppings. One
day in Italy in 1889 Queen Margherita and her husband
tasted pizza in the city and they absolutely loved it.
They thought it was delicious. The palace chef learned
how to make pizza and named a pizza after her with
cheese, basil and tomato. Today it is called a
Margherita! Lots of people eat pizza today. Some
people think that a thick crust is better and some
think a thin pizza crust is the best. Lots of people
have pizza at their birthday parties. We can all say
thank you to Ancient Greece for bringing pizza to us.
