A ) List the total amount money your brother saves for the first four months.

Month Total amount of money

1 RM150
2 RM200
3 RM250
4 RM300

Total amount of money in 1st month

RM150

Total amount of money in 2nd month

RM150 + RM50 = RM200

Total amount of money in 3rd month

RM200 + RM50 = RM250

Total amount of money in 4th month

RM250 + RM50 = RM300

b (i)

The difference between 2nd and 1st month:

RM 200 – RM 50=RM 50

The difference between 3rd and 2nd month:

RM 250 – RM 200 : RM 5 0

The difference between 4th and 3rd month:

RM 300 – RM 250=RM 5 0
(ii)

The ratio of the 2nd month with the 1st month

RM 200
=1.3 3
RM 150

The ratio of the 3rd month with the 2nd month

RM 250
=1.25
RM 200

(iii) conclusion

Based on (i) and (ii), we can conclude that the common difference between the month is RM50
and the common ratio is not the same for this question.

We can find the term ¿) by counting the number of money symbols. We also can find it through
formula :

T n=a+ ( n−1 ) d

Where a is the first term, n is the number of terms and d is the difference.

The 1st term of the question is RM150

T 2= 150 + ( 2 – 1 )50 =RM200

T 3 = 150 + ( 3 – 1 ) 50 = RM250

T 4 = 150 + ( 4 – 1 ) 50 =RM300

The nth term (T n) we get from the formula is the same with directing adding RM50 for each
month.

Then, find the common ratio to find ( r ) of the month through the formula:
Tn+1
r= , where r is the common ratio , T n is the nth term.
Tn

But, we use this formula to find the difference between month :

d=T n +1−T n , where d is the difference, T n is the nth term

As the difference of this question are the same, this question is a Arithmetic Progression
