June 20th is Father’s Day, but it is also Pastor Polly’s last day with Colonial
Hills UMC. We will host a hamburger lunch outside after the 11:00 am
service. We are asking the congregation for offerings to help cover the costs of the lunch.
Furthermore, any additional donations will be offered to Pastor Polly as a love offering. We are
also asking for volunteers to help with setup, food prep, grilling, and serving. Offerings can be
placed in the offering plate or made online through the website or Pushpay. Please contact the
church office if you are interested in volunteering. We will also have a table setup outside the
narthex on Sunday June 6th and June 13th if you wish to sign up or if you have any questions.

We have been and will most likely again be shaken by the tremors of trials, troubles, and
tribulations. And we will certainly find ourselves crying out again at some point for “help”
in the days ahead. In those times, we have a friend in the ancient song writer, the Psalmist.
Psalm 121 gives us needed direction and grounding when our faith is being tested by the
seasons of life.
1. SECURITY - My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121:2)
2. STABILITY - God will not allow your foot to be moved. (Psalm 121:3)
3. SERENITY - Behold, the One who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
(Psalm 121:4)
The final four verses find the Psalmist simply expounding on what the
SECURE<STABLE<SERENE help looks like. It is a shield and a shade, a guardian and a
guide, protection and preservation in this life and the next. The Lord is your keeper; the
Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon
by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore. (Ps121:5-8)
My time of devotion today has given me a faith plan for the days, months, and seasons
that are to come. I pray you will carve out time alone with God (and perhaps the Psalmist)
this weekend. A beautiful and bountiful place to begin is in worship with your church
family at CHUMC.

Saturday, June 19
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Our first job takes place on Saturday, June 19, on the church lawn from 2:00- 3:00 p.m. We will be filling five-gallon
pails with sand and PVC pipe and tying ropes and flags to make boundaries for Fresh Air Fun. When our work is
done, we’ll celebrate with frozen treats!
We encourage you to visit the Habitat for Humanity SA website at www.habitatsa.org for a wealth of
information. The happy lady on the homepage is Brenda Sanchez and her daughter, Hazelbelle. In the fall
of 2020 during the pandemic we helped build a house for Brenda and Hazelbelle in Rancho Carlota, a new
subdivision in southwest San Antonio. They are one of the many families that our congregation has helped
become new homeowners since 1991. In these difficult, but improving times, it is critical that we continue
to provide families with affordable, safe and healthy places to live. Please continue to give generously of
your gifts, time and prayers as we progress towards our next house build in September. If you have
questions, please text Charles Harrison at 844-5925 (C) or c.harrisonjr@gmail.com or Larry D. Barnes at
831-1228 (C) or lbarnes15@satx.rr.com

and offering per your usual way.
