1. The reason I study at Semarang State University is. Because UNNES is known for its
healthy, pollution-free and green areas. Moreover, almost all study programs at UNNES are
accredited A. Integrated management implemented by UNNES uses the support of
technology and information systems. An example of this system is, students do not need to
come to campus to do registration, KRS, graduation, and other things. The current education
system at the SMA, MA, SMK or other vocational school levels is still relatively common,
or even if there are majors it has not yet reached the level of work-ready skills and
knowledge. Lecture is a process to develop the skills that have been acquired in high school.
And want to be a student who does not only learn about course material to get grades and
diplomas. The association of students in the campus world is also useful for developing
personalities and changing our perspective on something for the better. Often, when working
later, people who go to college are better able to solve problems with a cool head, see
problems from various points of view and are also more able to think of various ways to find
solutions compared to people who don't go to college.
2. It should be realized that reading activities are very beneficial activities for everyone. Many
things can be obtained in life, if someone is diligent in reading. In the world of education,
making reading one of the habits of students is a hope for all parents and teachers in schools.
Guidance for reading activities cannot be separated from the strong interest within students
to want to do so and Indonesian language learning which is well managed by teachers in
schools. Reading, which in essence includes the study of Indonesian and is used as an
important teaching material, is expected to be able to arouse students' interest in reading.
Language teachers are expected to help students overcome reading difficulties by teaching
good reading techniques and utilizing existing facilities so that a reading culture can be
realized in schools.
3. a. Explain 4 uses of the simple present tense, and give example for each of them!
 HE is very smart and he has a hospital in HIS Town (habitual action)
 The sun rises from the east and sets in the west (tense factual)
 She is so beautiful (tense sentences)
 She love dancing (expess feelings)

b. The present perfect tense is a tense that describes an action that has just been completed,
while the present perfect continuous tense is a tense that describes activities that have
occurred in the past and continues to the present or untill now.

Example:

Present perfect tense:

I just finished my big project.

Present perfect continuous tense:

I've been waiting for my love since 4 years :))

c. Time and tense are not the same.

Time can measure the way metres can, but not physical space. Many people consider time to
be the fourth dimension of our universe (length, width, height, time). It can answer the
question, “How long?”

Since time “passes”, it can refer to past, present, or future, or imaginary time. “Last year”,
“this year”, “next year”, “tomorrow”, “yesterday” , “some day” etc.

“Tense” is a grammatical term which relates to time in its various aspects.

ACTION COMPLETED: Past tense. “She had a fall yesterday/this morning.” (Simple past
tense)

ACTION STARTED IN PAST, STILL APPLIES: “She has been in hospital for three
weeks.” (Simple present perfect tense, time how long).

REGULAR ACTION: “He brushes his teeth three times a day.“ (Simple present tense)

GOING ON NOW: “She is brushing her teeth (and can’t talk on the phone).” (Present
progressive tense.)

GOING ON IN THE PAST: “She was brushing her teeth when the phone rang).” (Past
progressive tense)

FUTURE: “We will arrive soon.” (Simple future tense)

IMAGINARY TIME PRESENT: “If she were here, she would tell you the same thing.”
(Were is present subjunctive; she isn’t here. “Would tell” is conditional because of the if)

IMAGINARY TIME PAST: “If she had been here, she would have told you the same
thing.” (Had been is past subjunctive; she wasn’t here. “Would have” is past conditional,
because of the if)

d. Type 1 Conditionals

Type 1 conditionals are used to describe situations that may or are supposed to occur in the
future and have a high probability of actually happening. The formula is as follows:

If + simple present tense, simple future

Example:

If you study, you will pass the exam.

If you wash your hands, you won't get sick.

Type 2 conditionals

Different slightly from type 1 conditionals, type 2 conditionals are used to describe situations that
are unrealistic or have a very low probability of occurring. For example imagining something that is
impossible or wishful thinking. The type 2 conditional formula is as follows:

If + past tense, would + infinitive

Example:

If I were you, I would rest right now.

If you owned a theme park, what would you do?

as Teacher Training and Education Institute (IKIP) Semarang. In accordance with the
Presidential Decree Republic of Indonesia, B.J. Habibie, in 1999 IKIP Semarang turned into
