Sofia

Sofia, the main character in the story An Unwanted Gift, is old

fashioned and confident. First, Sofia is old fashioned. She thinks

“she turned out this way because she lived with her grandparents.”

Her grandparents are old people and do not use modern

technology. They still have a rotary phone and typewriter. Second,

she shows to be very confident. She says, “I like the way I am, and if

I have a hard time because of it, that’s fine, because they’re not

going to change me.” This suggests that she likes who she is. She

does not need all the modern technology to fit in. She wants to be

herself. In brief, Sofia proves that she likes her old-time life and is

satisfied with it.
