Description Sika Viscocrete-5 is a third generation superplasticiser for concrete and mortar. It

meets the requirements for superplasticizer according to SIA 162 (1989) and prEN
934-2

Uses Sika Viscocrete-5 is suitable for the production of both Precast Concrete and
Ready mix Concrete.
Sika Viscocrete facilitates extreme water reduction, excellent flowability with the
same time optimal cohesion and highest self compacting behaviour.

Sika Viscocrete-5 is used for the following types of concrete :

„ Precast Concrete
„ Ready mix Concrete
„ Self compacting
„ Concrete with highest water reduction (up to 40%)
„ High Strength concrete
„ Watertight Concrete
„ Mass Concrete

High water reduction, excellent flowability, coupled with high early strengths, have
a positive influence on the above mentioned applications

Advantages Sika Viscocrete-5 acts by different mechanisms. Through surface absorption and
sterical separation effect on the cement particles, in parallel to hydration process,
the following properties are obtained :
„ Strong self compacting behaviour. Therefore suitable for the production of self
compacting concrete.
„ Extremely high water reduction (resulting in high density, strengths and
watertight)
„ Excellent flowability (resulting in highly reduced placing – and compacting
efforts)
„ Increase high early strengths development
„ Improved shrinkage and creep behaviour
„ Reduced rate of carbonation of the concrete
„ Improved watertight behaviour

Sika Viscocrete-5 does not contain chloride or other, steel corrosion promoting
ingredients. It may therefore be used without any restriction for reinforced and
prestressed concrete construction.

Storage/Shelf life In unopened, undamaged original container, protected from direct sunlight and

frost at temperatures between + 5 C and + 35 C, shelf life is at least 12 months
from date of production.

Supply in containers or tank trucks are possible on demand

Concrete Production
Dosage
Recommended dosage:
„ For soft plastic concrete : 0.2 – 0.6% by weight of cement
„ For flowing and self compacting concrete (S.C.C) : 0.3 – 1.2% by weight of
cement

Addition Sika Viscocrete-5 is added to the gauging water or simultaneously with water into
the concrete mixer. For optimum utilisation of the high water reduction effect it is
recommended to thoroughly mix the concrete at a minimal wet mixing time of 60
seconds.
The addition of the remaining gauging water – to fine tune concrete consistency –
may only be started after 2/3 of wet mixing time, to avoid surplus water in concrete

Concrete Placing With the use of the Sika Viscocrete-5 concrete of highest quality is being produced.
Construction

The standard rules of good concreting practice (production as well as placing)

must also be observed with Sika Viscocrete 5 concrete.
Fresh concrete must be cured properly.

Important Notes
Flowing concrete, S.C.C Sika Viscocrete-5 is also used to produce flowing and self compacting concrete
(S.C.C). For these, special mix designs are required.

Combinations Sika Viscocrete-5 may be combined with the following Sika Products :
„ Plastiment VZ
„ Sika Fume
„ Sika Pump
„ Sika Rapid

Safety instructions
Safety precautions In contact with skin, wash off with soap water
In contact with eyes or mucous membrane, rinse immediately with clean warm
water and seek medical attention without delay.
Ecology Do not dispose of into water or soil, but according to local regulations
