1. The modern teaching method is a learner –centered and activity-based teaching method that is
used to get learners fully involved.
Answer:
Modern teaching method is a new teaching method which centers the learners mind and
involves them entirely into the process of learning by using activity- based approach. In Modern
teaching method, planning and teaching the curriculum are done by keeping the learner as the primary
target.
Using this method learners are actively participating in the whole process to build their
knowledge and sharpen their skills; this is also called constructivist approach. On the other hand, the
mentor or teacher only leads them and guides them to focus on the objectives of the subject. This is
all done by engaging in activities and by adopting innovative modern teaching methods. New demand of
the era or the need of the hour for students is to embrace the contemporary teaching methods which
will also help in reducing the competition among the students, promote cooperation, and boost the
health study environment.

2. What are your suggested reasons for using modern teaching methods?

Answer:

Modern Teaching methods nowadays have a big impact in educating our learners. The
following are my suggested reasons why we need to use modern teaching methods:
o Learner centered- it is learner centered because it used application during class.
Students here are actively involved in the learning process. Teachers only act as a guide
and facilitator on the learning process.
o Tasked based or Activity based- teachers makes different learning activities which
learners would engage during the teaching and learning process.  It is through
participation in these activities that the learners are guided to achieve the objectives of
the teaching-learning process.
o Resource Based- teacher should be very resourceful and provide the necessary
teaching-learning materials from the school environment or community of the learners
which the learners would use for meaningful learning. At times the learners are made to
bring some of the resources from their homes.
o Interactive in nature- It often involves making students work in small groups or as
individuals while carrying out the learning tasks. This makes learners learn from one
another, and also learn to cooperate with one another in their effort to acquire the
required knowledge and skills and acceptable attitudes and inter-personal skills and
values.
o Integrative in nature-in modern teaching we can integrate our subjects in different
areas of learning.
o Peer Collaboration-students work in groups or teams. They interact with their
classmates. Instructional activities are selected based on learners’ needs, interest and
feelings. Learners enjoy working in groups in cooperative manner, and they encourage
one another in the learning task.

3. A good teacher should be critical in thinking and effective in planning in order to have good control
of the teaching as well as motivate the learners.
Answer.

We as teachers are the facilitator and guide of our students therefore, we should have
that ability to think critically. We should practice the “thinking art” of analyzing things. Teachers
need to be critical in thinking so that she can also help students to think critically. The following
are what the teacher needs to do to help students think-critically:

 have a sound knowledge base from which to support students as they delve more deeply into
content.
 remain open to challenge by students, not representing themselves as the sole source of
knowledge.
 encourage students to look at the big picture by engaging them in critical-thinking processes
that have relevance beyond the classroom.
 be prepared to listen to voices that originate in the classroom and to use students' personal
experiences as starting points for gathering information.
 encourage students to question and challenge existing beliefs, structures, and practices.
 avoid offering 'how to do it' approaches.
 encourage students to be sensitive to the feelings of others.
 provide opportunities for inquiry by giving students time for planning, processing, and
debriefing.
 structure lessons so that students can work safely and co-operatively and develop creative
forms of shared responsibility.
 encourage students to take critical action. When students learn to use democratic processes
inside the classroom, they can transfer these to situations outside the classroom.

Another characteristic is she/ he should be an effective planner so that there is a good

flow in the teaching and learning process. Planning for the classroom is an important part of
educating and behavior management. Proper classroom planning will keep you organized and
on track while teaching, thus allowing you to teach more and manage less.

4. In the innovation change process, the introduction of any innovation into the system is carried out
directly by updating and modifying the activities of the teacher for effective learning outcomes.
Answer:

As a teacher of this new generation, we should be adaptable and flexible to changes

because this time and age there are a lot of things that happen and changes in a blink of an eye
because of the advancement of technology.

There is a need and a necessity for innovation in teaching for the sake of improving the
process of learning. Otherwise, the teaching-learning process becomes monotonous with a
subsequent loss of interest by both ends of the process or both will gather in the classes just to
take down the "heavy" loads from their shoulders. Teaching is a noble duty which ought to
involve transfer of knowledge, skills, positive attitudes, ethical values, proper ways of thinking,
the art of tackling problems, and common sense. Innovation is of course necessary to work with
continuously, and there have never been so many possibilities for teaching design and adaption as
right now, by combining good old practices and new ICTs.

5. If young people are not challenged to utilize all of their talents in the learning process and
participate in creating ways, they will surely “shrink” As well the hopes for their future.

Answer:

In the past years we observe that learners tend to face a drastic change in utilizing their
capabilities and talents. We as teachers suffers from these changes in our learner’s, but we never give
up on them.

There are reasons why students are like this. Some of the reasons are personal, economically,
environmental and technology. Base on my experience as a teacher-adviser sometimes students who do
not participate in the class have personal problems where their family are involve. Lots of them are part
of a broken family where there are no parents who guides them in their education. Many of them are
stress with their family that they begin to neglect their studies. Some are economically deprived, like
here in Navotas there are lot of family who is poor. Sometimes what they earn is just for their food to
survive for the day that is why many learners tend to help their family by earning money. Some of them
are working late at night at the fish port. When they go to school the next day, they are already tired
because of the night long work. It leads to poor participation in class. Environment is also have a big
impact in students participation, peers in the places where they live influences learners, this is what we
called peer pressure. If their friends tend to neglect school, do not attend classes (absenteeism), and not
participate they also copy this just to be “in” to their group. As the technology advances many learners
are quite dependent on it. Some of them become addictive to mobile games that they neglect their
studies, while others do not practice critical thinking because they believe that everything is one click
away with their cellphones or computers. Lots of students become lazy because of the advancement of
technology. These are the factors that affects students learning process.

As a teacher, we are responsible in guiding our learners to have a better future that is why we
do everything to help them bounce back in their studies. The following are the things we might do:

o Ask why this student neglects his/her studies.

o Reflect on the notion of rigor and continue to challenge and  support your students. As
instructors, we often must balance rigor and support, and this situation might be one where
students will need more support than rigor. Establishing continuity doesn’t mean you increase
the amount of work required of them.
o Repeat some of the lessons you taught in class. Especially for those students who are missing
the classroom environment, this will probably help activate their memory of being part of a
community and remind them that they are still part of one.
o Let your students know that you are there for them and that if they need help to reach out to
you.
o Use hopeful and optimistic language.
o Home visitation and counselling.
o Interventions and remedial.
And as a teacher in public school, we always stand with DepEd vision, “No Children are left
behind”.
