2021 Labor Day

“Araw ng mga Manggagawa para sa Pandaigdigang Pagkakaisa at Pakikiisa.”

I. INTRODUCTION:
In 1889, the Marxist International Socialist Congress adopted a resolution for a great
international demonstration in which they demanded that the workers should not be made to
work for more than 8 hours a day. After this, it became an annual event and May 1 was
celebrated as Labor Day.
In the Philippines, International Labor Day is remembered every first of May to mark the
centuries-long struggle of the proletariat and honor their bravery for demanding better working
conditions.
Labor Day is also a day for unions to bring attention to current issues affecting workers.
In 1886, unions in the United States were successful in demanding an eight-hour working day. In
the Philippines, which was under United States colonial rule, workers organized a rally at the
American Governor-General’s residence demanding fairer working conditions. This is officially
recognized as the country’s first Labor Day. However, it wasn’t until after 1913 when eight-hour
days, as well as other workers’ rights, were granted to the people.
To commemorate this part of our history the Team TUKLAS of Kaunlaran High School
conducted an activity to enhance the knowledge of our students about Labor Day and be part of
honoring our beloved workers which is the heart of our country.

II. OBJECTIVES:

 To celebrate Labor Day with a theme: “Araw ng mga Manggagawa para sa

Pandaigdigang Pagkakaisa at Pakikiisa.”
 To involve students in celebrating and honoring our beloved workers.
 To enhance students talent and skills in making slogan.

III. CONTENT:

Labor Day activity was held last May 3-5 2021 via Fb live at TUKLAS FB Page. The said
activity is open for all bonqafide student of Kaunlaran High School from Junior High School to Senior
High School. The activity focuses on slogan making. The chairman of the said activity is Ms. Charlotte
Dimandal and her co-chairman is Mrs. Fearlyn Claire P. Linao.

The activities theme was 2021 Labor Day “Araw ng mga Manggagawa para sa Pandaigdigang
Pagkakaisa at Pakikiisa.” The activity was made to honor our laborers to do this the team conducted
slogan making contest, trivia posting and a tribute video for the worker parents of Kaunlaran High School
students. The slogan making contest is open to students from grades 7-12. There slogan should focus on
the theme of the said activity. There are 16 participants. Out of this we will choose 3 winners and 1
people’s choice award. The students will be judge using a rubric by the judges. The Judges of the activity
are Mrs. May Rose Gautani, Mrs. Wendy Pescante and Ms. Renzel Gernaldo of Filipino Department. The
winners will win the following prizes 1st place P300.00, 2nd place P200.00, 3rd place P100.00 and People’s
Choice Award and P100.00. The wines of the activity are 1 st place Celgie May Blancaflor, 2nd place Aleah
May Culdora, 3rd place Jaybee Judilla and for People’s choice Award Celgie May Blancaflor.
