1. Which global issue do we need to prioritize first and set upon as a global citizen?

Elucidate
your answer.

In the context of what happening around, I think that first that our government and
international government should prioritize is to battle against Covid-19 faster because it affects most
of the aspects of our lives. COVID 19 pandemic has had a huge impact on our society today, It has led
to the lockdown of many states leading to states restricting movement within the country or out of
the country. The COVID 19 pandemic has led to the meltdown of our economy leading to many
businesses relying on human resource management to come up with resilient strategies in hopes of
salvaging their business. This Pandemic has led to a lot of problems in our Human resource sector.

COVID 19 led to the death of millions of citizens in various states. This impacted the human
resource as it had to hire a new lot of employees. More resources had to be used to train many
more human resource personnel to help in the staffing of healthcare companies (Martocchio, 2019).
Some companies lost up to 50% of their workers and people dealing with the stigmatization of the
disease led to most of them quit. The human resource department faced a huge challenge in trying
to find qualified personnel. For example, in Canada, they had to get employees from other states to
fully staff their companies and provide services effectively. Some of the companies mainly in the
healthcare department had to opt to employ students to stand in as qualified medical personnel.
Thousands of dollars were used in trying to ensure quality services were offered.

2. Which of the three perspectives of international relations or politics do you adhere to for
global citizenship? Justify your position.

If I were to add the perspective of international relations for the global citizen, I would choose,
Liberalism. Liberal thought is the only effective method for analytical thinking when one is dealing
with a societal problem that is tied up in many political and cultural complications. I don’t feel this is
a bold statement; we are living in the information age. Now that people from different cultures are
in constant contact, we have to learn how to deal with problems that arise from cultural and societal
differences. Nineteenth-century philosopher John Stuart Mill brings up a very important point about
liberal thought in his essay, “On Liberty”. He writes that it is foolish to be so bold as to assume we
can understand others without any serious effort to look at things from their perspective. Isn’t that
what the current administration has done? Terrorism is undoubtedly a complex problem without an
easy solution. But rather than examine our enemy and what motivates them, President Bush has
hurled the U.S. into conflict with various foreign nations head-on by declaring that other countries
are either with us or against us in the war on terror.
