Session Objectives: Participants shall be able to:

 Distinguish the difference among research topic, problem,  Discuss difference between action and basic research.

 Identify problem or issues encountered in the classroom/school;
 Generate topics for action research through individual reflection;
 Examine problems or issues identified vis-à-vis the Basic Education
Research Agenda (BERA) to ensure alignment between possible
topic/ and the Agenda;
 Develop possible solution/s (intervention, innovation, or strategy) to
identified research problem/s; and
Evaluate and asses the formulated title of an action research.

Duration 1 hr.

 Enumerate the criteria for good research questions;  Discuss difference between action and basic research.
 Evaluate the quality of research questions formulated based on
the five criteria for good research questions;
 Formulate action research questions based on the conceptual
framework; and
 Formulate good action research questions and their
corresponding hypotheses.
Contribution to Workshop Outcomes This session will provide teachers comprehensive background and ideas about formulating and evaluating action research questions
and hypothesis.
